I made this lamp kinda based off my entry to the last challenge, but these don't fold.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=238457.0
I had a lot of lamp parts since years ago I would take lamps apart for fun and *tried* to make new ones.  We needed a lamp in the living room so this is what I made.

With the lights on.

the parts I used are:  a white lamp base and a silver rod.  Then I needed to extend the rod so I used a part from an old coffee pot it also had a flat circle attached which would hold up the shade.  Christmas lights used for the lighting and 2 zip ties.

the shade was made from this natural looking tissue paper and wood craft sticks (not pictured)

lamp with lights off

I also made a shade with the red tissue paper.  I think I like the white better though.

Thanks for looking.

Not sure if you are still needing help but there are videos on You Tube.  The ones by spirited lady boutique has a website and sells their full length videos.  I have not bought any though so not sure what is in the full videos.  I've just recently decided I want to learn how to upholster.  I tried to learn in the past and want to try again.
You may also want to see if your local library has books if you haven't already checked.

about the tea lights,  there is a store here called the Dollar Tree.  I got them there.  I have also seen them in craft stores, they just cost more.  In most stores I would look by the candles section.  These lights are LED which stands for Light Emitting Diodes and the heat is less than that of regular lights.

Oh geez! I never would have thought this project would make people lose sleep.  My computer is working now but very slooooowly and I had all my files on another computer, but anyway... The tutorial is done and you can get it here!

I'd love to see pictures of any lanterns you make.

Thank you all for your kind comments.  I am currently having computer problems so making a tut hasn't been very easy right now.  I will try to make one though whenever my computer works or if I can borrow one again.

Thank you all though!

This idea just came to me!  I have all this junk mail I keep hoping to make stuff from it (it's a problem I know).  But I have made a couple things in the past so maybe it's ok...
If anyone else sees potential in junk mail let me know.

You can do a lot with paper or the fake plastic credit cards or credit card stickers?  Any other ideas?

Click on the word "here"  that takes you to div share click on download this file, it may take about a minute.   Have fun.

I made these out of tissue paper, wood craft sticks, L.E.D. tea lights, glue, thread and embroidery floss.  I made two different sets with different color schemes.

The first picture is blues and greens but with the lights they seem to change to all blues or all greens.

So the things I bought at the dollar store where:

Wood craft sticks - 2 packs $2
Tissue paper - 1 pack  $1
Led color changing lights - 5 = $5
Total = $8

green and blue lanterns with lights on

again the green and blue lanterns with lights

green and blue with L.E.D. lights off

the pink and red ones with out lights (I could not afford lights for both but I can move the lights around) I like how these match our living room...

closer of the pink and red ones

these are supplies I bought from the dollar tree (this is before I went back for more lights and craft sticks)

a pic in progress
