A crappy iPhone picture of my latest scribble, the first in a long, long time.

2  Summer Sunset on Snow in Spinning: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: February 16, 2008 02:17:35 PM
So. This is my second yarn ever. EVER. I am stupidly, ridiculously proud of it.
It's about 165 yards of a wool/silk blend, between DK and fingering weight.

 Grin

I'm so tired of snow. I want summer back, now.

3  Bonsai Tunic + Mods in Knitting: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: February 12, 2008 10:12:11 AM
The pattern is from Spring 2007 issue of Interweave Knits, called "Bonsai Tunic".
This is the original look:
http://www.interweaveknits.com/images/backissues/toc_spr07/bonsai_tunic1.jpg

I made it out of Cascade 220 in .. some unknown green. I increased the ribbing at the waist to 5" instead of 3" because I'm long waisted. I did 1x1 rib instead of 2x2, omitted the tie waist and split for the neck after knitting up 2.5" instead of the 1" the pattern calls for.

There was no 36" bust size (it went from 34-38 without anything in between :/) so I fudged with the needle size to get a 36" , more or less. My back is quite narrow so I decreased a little more..

I love it more than I thought I would.

4  Pretty blues in Spinning: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: January 18, 2008 05:22:16 PM
My next-door neighbor is a master spinner and she let me take a drop spindle home, along with some gorgeous 60% wool 40% mohair roving dyed a pretty blue with some purple and light green.

I spun about 60 yds worth, and here it is! My very first!

My MIL is making a branching out scarf with it (it'll actually look like it when it's blocked), to put on the mantle. I'm pretty proud of it.. Cheesy

(the color is more accurate in the spindle photo)

5  Cabled Coffee and Hand Cozy in Knitting: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: November 24, 2007 04:25:10 PM
I made this project with some Paton's Merino in the 'Harvest' colorway, as a diversion from a shawl I'm in the middle of.

It was my first attempt at cabling and the pattern was really well written and easy to follow, I'll definitely be doing more cables in the future.

(The pattern is from aproudUSAFwife's post a couple weeks back)

Shout out to all the Tim Horton's fans out there, their travel mugs fit perfectly in these cozies!

6  Gordon Lightfoot Portrait in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by kaitlin on: October 31, 2007 11:02:29 PM
Hey! I drew this about a year ago, and put it away because I pretty much never wanted to see it again.. since then I've moved and... well.. I like it again.

(I gave good ol' Gord comic-booky Superman lips because I thought he looks better that way, hehe)

What do you think?

7  Untitled Nude (CAUTION, NUDITY!) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by kaitlin on: October 31, 2007 10:58:42 PM
So I've been on craftster for a year or more now, and I've never posted in the "art" forum before!

I've also never drawn a nude before. My subject was another image, and not a live subject (I just moved to a new town and didn't want to introduce myself to people by asking for them to pose for me naked.. haha!).

Anyways, comments welcome!

8  March Basic Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: October 31, 2007 10:48:38 PM
Hi! My mother in law just knit this cardigan for me! The pattern is from the wonderful people at Berroco, called "March Basic". It's made of an Alpaca/Wool blend and I just love it. She added to the length of the overall sweater and each of the sleeves by 2inches or so, and it fits my long waist and monkey arms perfectly!

I've never knit a sweater before, so it was nice to see how she did it, and I'm excited to try a bigger project now!

9  My Calorimetry! (Haha, a whole year late for the bandwagon!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: October 05, 2007 08:37:38 PM
So I finally got around to making my Calorimetry. I started it last night and knit until I was too drunk and sleepy to knit anymore. Grin I was surprised at the fact I never dropped one stitch that whole night! For those of you who like to knit while sipping something special, this is definitely an easy one, even after you've had a few, lol Wink. I finished it today, and I'm so proud!

Pardon my funky hair and my no-makeup face, I'm just too proud of this to let it go another day without a photo.

(a couple more pics and further details in my blog!)  Grin

10  Hexagon Flower Quilted Pillow! in Quilting: Completed Projects by kaitlin on: September 27, 2007 06:50:38 PM
My good friend (who frequents the knitting/crochet board of this site, hee heee..) deserves a present. My mother in law is teaching me to make my own hexagon quilt using the English paper piecing method, and we came up with the idea to make my friend a pillow out of one of them.

This is what we came up with! The sides of the pillow look wonkier than they actually are...  Cheesy
(it was also my very first attempt at appliqu!)

I tried to take a picture of the quilting detail, but forgot to turn on the macro function, so I failed and it turned out blurry. Oh well! What do you think?
