1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Zephyr Style's Tree Jacket on: July 23, 2007 10:10:38 AM

Who's in?

I just ordered my yarn yesterday...it's a lovely berry/plummy colour called "Sultana." Delish.

The pattern is here... http://www.zephyrstyle.com/catalog/item.cfm/2367447/3974520

Knit knit knit!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Swatch portraits = lovely, cheap art idea. on: June 04, 2007 06:23:37 PM
I fell in love with the swatch portraits on the Purl Bee (http://www.purlbee.com/swatch-portraits/ and decided I needed to make some of my own!

A close up of some of my fabric.

I absolutely love it. It's so bright and cheery, and it gives me something lovely to look at when I'm working at my desk.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Amelia Raitte's Cherry in Banana on: June 04, 2007 06:04:49 PM
Here she is!

Gratuitous posing shot:

The yarn is Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Banana. The colour varies depending on what light its in...it ranges from a pearly yellow to a bright sunshiny colour. Yummy.

I had a bit of a debacle with the buttons...I fell in love with these tiny pearl buttons that were never going to hold the whole thing together. After trying many different snap combos--all of which buckled and bunched and looked hideous--I had a brainwave. Velcro! That's right, my cardi is held together with velcro...the buttons are just decorative.

I hope you like my Cherry! I sure do.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Question about colour work on: May 06, 2007 06:03:38 PM

So, I fell in love with this sweater:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=167329.0

The original knitter made the rose with duplicate stitch, but I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this. I've never done any advanced colourwork before--only fair isle.

Thanks guys!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a scoop-neck sweater vest pattern.... on: April 07, 2007 11:24:32 AM

I have an image in my mind of a knit vest pattern...sort of like Ms. Marigold from Zephyr style, but with a scoop neck.

Any ideas?
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Sew U creations - First sewing post! on: March 10, 2007 08:28:02 AM

Just wanted to share yet another version of the Sew U skirt and blouse!  I'm mostly a knitter, but I've totally fallen in love with Wendy Mullins' clothes.

Since I'm new to sewing, please give me all the advice and constructive criticism you see fit...I'd love any tips you may have!

Anywho, pics are on my Flickr.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Fair Isle Heart Sweater from knit.1 on: February 21, 2007 03:03:03 PM
Behold: the Fair Isle Heart Sweater from the cover of December's knit.1!

Yoke detail:

I made some modifications to the original pattern: I lengthened the sleeves and made them puffy, changed the neckline, added waist shaping, and took out the deep ribbing. The Yarn is Merino et Soie.

I'm pretty proud of this little baby, even though it makes me look a tad bulky around the midsection (you can't really tell in the photo).

I hope you like it!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Two different ways to warm your bosoms on: August 03, 2006 07:08:04 PM
In a recent post, mcekar very astutely pointed out that the"boobholder" trend seems to be waning. So, I decided to post my two boob-holder-esque things that I have made this summer before they become completely passe!

Behold, my first FO post.... some lovely boob-holders (or, as I call them, bosom-warmers).

Yet another anthropologie-inspired caplet... I couldn't resist.

For some reason, my computer reversed the image...but I am wearing my favourite "Reading is Sexy" t-shirt.

The Cressida Lace Shrug from ohmystars.net.

I got a pound of this lavender cotton yarn for $6!

I'm apparently very pleased with myself. Smiley

Thanks for looking!
10  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Drop Stitch Vest from S n' B nation on: June 01, 2006 01:15:55 PM

This is my very first day of Crafster and I feel like a little kid in a candy store! I love knitting, sewing, and general craftiness, but didn't really know anyone else who was into it. I am practically giddy about finding this site!

Enough gushing...on to my question. I have been thinking about knitting the Drop Stitch vest lately, but don't know how it will turn out. I love how it looks in the pic, but sometimes the picture and the actual knitted product can be very different. I was wondering if anyone has knit it up and could post some more pictures/give me feedback about how it turned out.

Any comments/suggestions are also welcome! Thanks!
