1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / HST vector art on: August 27, 2010 06:33:11 AM
so the other day i woke up and thought, "today, i will try to make vector art!"  couple of hours later, this is what i came up with.  i don't think it's too bad for a first try : )

the good doctor, hunter s. thompson:

to those of you who are vector art masters: what should i try to do better on the next one?  any tips or tricks you'd like to share would be appreciated!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / polymer clay cake jewelry set on: December 21, 2008 06:46:57 PM
i made this for a friend's birthday.  she loves purple and japanese street style; so i tried to combine both.  it was my first time working with polymer clay, and i really like how it turned out.  the large cake is a charm for a necklace, and the two smaller cake pieces are earrings.

comments/critique always welcome and appreciated!
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / coptic bound travel journal on: December 16, 2008 09:52:52 PM
i made this journal as a yule gift for a friend.  she is traveling to thailand this spring and i thought she would appreciate somewhere to keep the memories of her trip. this is my first hand-bound journal, and i was quite pleased with how it turned out.

i really liked the long ribbons used as a closure.  they remind me of the yards fabric used to create an obi.

comments/ crits always welcome!  thanks for looking.

she likes celtic and roman myths:

''Norse : Mostly Odin and his two wolves, and two ravens. I also really like Thor. I also love Runes.

Celtic : The Morrigan (more so in the Badb Catha, or Raven on battle sense), the Triple Goddess, nature goddesses Tailtiu and Macha, I also like Celtic knotwork."

please pm savvymercury if you think you would like to be her angel!

the wonderful RondaS has volunteered to be celticgoddess's angel!

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / NaNoWriMo on: November 02, 2007 07:05:40 AM
i know it's not exactly "classical art" in the strictest sense, but i didn't know where else to put it!  and the board description says, "discuss future works of art you're currently masterminding".
so my question is, are any other craftsters participating in national novel writing month?  the idea is to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of november!

this is a swap based around greek/roman, norse, and celtic myths.  you will craft for your partner based on his or her favorite story.
you and your partner can decide how many large/ small items you would like to craft for each other (communication= important!)

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: mythology swap

Craftster username:

Email address:

Your real name:

Mailing address including the country:

Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?

Tell us about your favorite myth(s)!  It would be helpful if you added what culture the myth is from, so it's a bit easier for your partner to google and such.

Crafts you would love to receive?  crafts you would rather not receive?

Favorite color schemes?/ Colors you hate?

Allergies?

What's your craft specialty?

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide

i hate hate leaving people negative feedback!  i don't have a problem with you sending late (i know halloween can be a very busy time, especially for you with little ones!)  just let me and your partner know!

my last swap i organized didn't go off so well, so i'm adding a few small extra rules to this one:
first, post here, in this thread at least once a week to let us all know how you're doing, ect. i hate swaps where nobody talks.
secondly, you must post a picture of the items you have received in the gallery.  if you don't have a camera, borrow one from a friend, or ask your partner to post a pic for you.  swaps with crummy galleries are... well... crummy.
third, have fun!!!!

sent,
recieved,
feedback recieved
sending late, but communicating,
haven't heard from you, pm savvymercury right away!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / mythology swap? on: September 10, 2007 04:33:31 PM
so i am basically a history buff, and an english major.  as such, i deal a lot with roman and greek mythology.  this got me thinking... how about a mythology swap?  consequently , i'd be willing to expand this to celtic or norse mythology too...
we could make things centered around people's favorite myths.  anybody in?
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / oh dear... i don't know what to do. on: June 07, 2007 04:06:47 PM
i'm hosting my very first swap, and i've ran into this problem.  one of the participants ended up having to send her package twice.  the first time it got sent back to her, but she let me and her partner know and sent it again.  her mom didn't get a DC# though.

so a week or so goes by and she messages to see if her partner has recieved and never hears back.  i sent her partner several messages as well and her partner has never responded.

this is the last package in the swap.  it's been "over" for everyone else for about a month now.   what should i do?
