1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Just say no to ugly lamps! on: April 03, 2012 11:30:40 AM
Ugly lamps cramp my style

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cuckoo clock makeover on: April 03, 2012 07:20:47 AM
I bought this clock at a yard sale for $5 and I knew it I could give it a new life.

I took it apart, replaced and painted the hands, painted the entire clock pink and repainted the numbers and bird.  I also swapped out the ugly chains with a string of white beads to hold the acorns.  I love it!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bible cover/ carrier on: May 25, 2009 01:11:39 PM
Ok I know.  This isn't a purse, bag or wallet but it does technically fall under the category "make stuff to carry stuff"  so... Tongue

Anyway, here it is.  I was inspired by Winniel and the Laughing House on flickr.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tape measure wallet on: April 07, 2009 04:34:16 PM
I found this fabric with tape measures on it and I knew that I had to make myself something out of it, being a seamstress and all.  (Technically its carpenter tape measures but who cares?)

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Crescent shaped handbags (with link to pattern) on: April 04, 2009 12:29:37 PM
I love this shape and size!  I just think the fabric is so cool too.  I started by making one for my sister then I just couldn't shake the sewing bug.

The one by my sewing machine was the first one I made for my sister.  I used a coordinating fabric covered button as an accent.  The others I used a metal grommet.  I like these better than inserting a snap or magnet because they add weight and keep the flap closed and you don't have to fumble to snap and unsnap.

I've got more of his fabric from the same collection I'm making more bags with.

And thank you to yorkiemischief  who posted a link to the pattern below!!
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cushy ipod case on: August 12, 2008 10:32:30 AM
When I got my new ipod nano, of course I had to make a case for it.  I think everything I own has it's own case!

I used fusible fleece for the interfacing to protect my new gadget.

I USED THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT HELD THE IPOD IN THE CASE THAT IT CAME IN.  I JUST USED TWO PIECES OF ELASTIC TO HOLD IT IN PLACE.

There's also a small piece of elastic next to the ipod that is used to hold the earphones.
7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Weird window popping up (stack overflow at line...) on: August 07, 2008 11:13:35 AM
I don't know if you are still expecting to see any glitches since the craftster change but everytime I load the FOC forum page I get a window pop up that says:

Stack overflow at line: 0

Don't know what that means, it's not even giving me any problems, either, but I thought I'd let you know about it.
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Johnathan Adler-like crossstitch patterns?? on: June 30, 2008 06:34:22 PM
I'm new to cross-stitching.  In fact, I've never even attempted it yet.  But I want to really bad now because I am in love with Jonathan Adler's needlepoint pillows.  http://jonathanadler.com/shop/home.php?cat=252

Does anyone know how to attempt to make your own patterns or where to find patterns like these?  Even cool geometric ones would be great.  I don't want to copy his but I would love to make some fun, different kind of pillows for my house.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Black & White Bedroom with Painted Black Walls.... yes black!!: Ideas & Pictures on: April 14, 2008 05:52:39 PM
I finally started on my room.  I've always wanted to paint my walls a high gloss black and my husband actually let me!!

Our room is only in the beginning stages but I am keeping up with the project on my blog for those who may be interested or inspired.

http://norrishomeprojects.blogspot.com/2008/04/master-bedroom.html

so first of all I have to show off this awesome antique store find

and then this is a lamp that started off brass without a shade

and then here is my glorious swanky bedroom!!

I wanted to have yellow accents but since I started I've been seeing a lot of that in Elle Decor and in clothing.  So I don't want to do that now.  I'll probably go with just the black, white and mirrored accents.  But like I said, I'm totally not done yet, but couldn't wait to share.

I'm going to make padded cornices that go to the ceiling but I'm can't find fabric I like yet.....

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Feeling ready for spring on: January 28, 2008 01:10:18 PM
I finally got around to making a bag!  It's been awhile but I just got a bunch of new fabric in the mail so I had to start cutting it!  This one is made from Amy Butler fabric....

I didn't give it a whole lot of extras because I was in a hurry for the outcome.  Normally I would have inserted snaps or velcro and maybe a few more pockets (I'm the pocket queen) but I have no patience anymore.
