hahahaha. i think it's funny, and silly. I need to learn how to embroider and do that. what a great idea! (oh, and i totally bought a pair of panties the other day that have flowers embroidered on them--yours are WAY better!)
AWESOME! i used to have a ring like that in high school, and was thinking about it the other day for some random reason, and was like, "now, how did i make that?" thanks for reminding me...and for the great tute.
i love these! i sooo can't wait to make them. my friend gave me a huge spool of cheap-o cd-rs when she moved. they are all kindsa crazy different colors, and since they aren't very quality cds i don't plan on using them to actually burn music on to...so i might as well use tjem for this. hooray! thanks for the idea!
so, i was thinking, we could complie a list and swap ideas: i love getting supplies at: well, marakia (sp) 99cent stores are actually really great. the one at ward, and the random one in the safe way in salt lake (i think that's where it is) they have random origami papers, chopsticks, and tons of storage bins. they also have lotsa cheap goodies you can use to reconstruct/repurpose.
i love, love, love, the salvation army in kailua!
isle knit on the 14th floor on the century center (i think that's what it's called) on bishop in chinatown is also good for bamboo knitting needles. she also sells lotsa yarn, but it can be expensive--but where else are you gonna go on this island??
if there is anyone else out there on oahu, i'd love to hear where you get your supplies and other cool stuff....
Aloha, fellow island craftsters!! are there any of you out there? sometimes i feel like i'm the only gal on the island (i live on oahu) that "Craftsters" but i know this can't be true! where are you guys?? where do you get your supplies and whatnot? lets chat!!
I tend to buy imported coffee that comes in fun, colorful cans. They usually aren't written in english either, which add's to the effect. I use them as planters. I use an old medium size sour cream or yogurt tub (the bigger tubs that are almost the size of the coffee can). i use the plastic tub for the plant/dirt (poke holes in the bottom of the plastic tub, then you can put a coffee filter in, before the dirt, to help keep the dirt from falling out of the holes). then, i just stuck the plastic tub in the coffee can. lovely!
mine, GypsySoul3, is actually from one of my fave van morrison songs, ("Into the Mystic") in the song, he sings, "I wanna rock your Gypsy Soul..." and i always thought that'd be the best and sleaziest pick up line ever. I sooo want someone to say that to me! hee.hee.
