1  Cabled living-on-the-edge sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by rjbuthead on: October 12, 2007 01:26:40 PM
When I was little, and my dad would drive our family around with a low tank of gas, my mom would always say that he 'lived on the edge'. I am not one of those people. I never go below 1/8 of a tank of gas. I am a planner. So when I started this sweater with 3 skeins of yarn (that had no yardage marked), I felt really daring and kind of stupid, with my heart rate getting a little jazzed.  Man, I have a thrilling life.

The pattern is sort of based on this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=109542.0

The hood doesn't fit on my head, but like my mom also said, beggars can't be choosers.

TA DA! Here is my split neckline cap tee! It is blocking here.

I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino aran.  <Sigh> Such nice yarn.  I had trouble getting the gauge correct so I used a smaller gauge and then increased sizes.  I'm not too crazy about the neckline, I may rip it out and do it over.  I think the craziest thing about this shirt is that there is NO waist decreases, and yet the fabric naturally goes in at the waist and then out at the hips.  Maybe this is just my imagination.  MAN I LOVE THIS BOOK! I will post an action shot when it's dry!

blood, sweat and tears....
well, maybe not blood or sweat, but definately tears, many tears.  I never got the gauge right for this sweater. I had attempted this sweater about 4 times before i got something wearable.  I gave up at one point, and then I knew I had to make it and LIKE it or I was going to give up knitting!! This sweater was a BIG deal for me! I just made a small size and it came out miraculously. I used knitpicks wool of the andes in asparagus.

After ripping out the neckline AND sewing it back in TWICE, i gave up and went with a simple rib that I like the fit of.

Hope you like!

Okay, here's the action shot.  i was pretty certain that i lost my camera USB cable...until i found it.  Roll Eyes

saly, i don't wear it often, i think i bound off too tightly on the neck and it bothers me.  something so easy to redo quick...and i never get around to it.

9  Granny's no square in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by rjbuthead on: February 25, 2007 12:08:29 AM
This bag was so fun to make! I didn't follow the pattern exactly as it was written... I love crochet because you can just hook the seams together...no sewing needed!  Cheesy

one side

other side

The lighter green is knitpicks shine worsted in grass. everything else was stashbusting!

10  Celtic cable bag...TRANSFORMED! in Knitting: Completed Projects by rjbuthead on: February 24, 2007 11:35:59 PM
Let me apologize in advance for the crappy pictures...

First it was this...

Now it is this!

I changed it because I only had one skein of lamb's pride and that short strap wasn't working for me.  Also, I finally found some rod handles!

What do you think?
