1  Memories of tiny feet. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: September 13, 2012 02:49:24 PM
Hi there!

Again it's been a while, I decided to post this one to see what you guys think.

I got a request this last week of making a pair of cufflinks for a dads birthday gift, inspired in their 1 month old baby.

After several sketches, going through initials, silhouettes, shapes, some designs I had already made etc

I suggested we could use his little foot, ..

After a little photoshop to make the photo she gave me the proper size...

I cut the shape with a jeweler's saw...which took several attempts.

I made the other parts, after a couple of hours of soldering, engraving, sanding and polishing

Voila!

Really hope the dad likes them!  Smiley

I wish I could make 30! but sadly silver is so expensive these days, I don't even know what to do, still , I have the need of experimenting and see what can be made.

Thank you for reading!

3  The bubble blower necklaces.. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: August 31, 2011 09:04:14 PM
Hellooooooooooooooo it's been too long!  Cheesy

I like to put stuff here on craftster when I am really proud of  a design so here it goes..

When I was little, every time my mom would take me to the city she would buy me bubbles, back then they used to do just a wrapped wire and the liquid soap was in a Gerber bottle..funny thing is the soap never lasted a whole day.. haa! If you have a kid you know that for sure.

The other day while walking down the street with a friend of mine there was a man selling and blowing bubbles and I told her these exact words "Wouldn't it be cool to have a necklace with a bubble blower and soap, and throw tiny bubbles?" And she laughed and said I have tooo much imagination.

A few days later I was making sketches, not sure if it would work since It was all so little, but guess what it worked! I made just one supposedly for me, but that same afternoon I had 2 people asking me if I was going to sell them.

What we have is on one side a lovely stone.. and on the other side a tiny glass bottle which holds the soap, you use it as a lariat and when the time comes you just pull the little cork and play with it!

Here are other versions I've made using onyx, glass, etc.

I am so happy with them!!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Oh! and here is a video of it at work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8cOWU_3Lrw

Ive been doing a lot of thinking and was a bit unsure of the future.. then while working I was sketching  and I started making a border of flowers.. and then I went straight to my bench and did my drawing on top of the metal, freely without planning or knowing how it was going to look..the next day I did another, and the next..

And then my dirty dishes.. because I'm lazy and I rather make them than wash them  Grin

We got 2 cups, 2 plates and a spoon..

These are my favs from the last 2 weeks been making other things but these 2 wanted to be here on craftster..

Thank you for reading! Your opinions are worth a lot to me Smiley

7  I think this is the best ring I've ever made.. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: December 13, 2009 07:40:19 AM
I can finally show you the ring Ive been working on little by little for weeks.

My school had an exposition and I was invited to display 4 pieces, sadly I couldnt make it there that night and due to the work for Christmas season I was only happy to display this one ring.

This is the pond:

Made entirely by hand.. the idea for this ring was to give a twist to the usual setting for a stone and for each part of the ring to relate to  the main idea. So much can be done with jewelry, when I think about it is just endless..it all starts with what you want to portrait and when I saw this stone (agate) the first thing I thought was the green waters on a pond.. with all the different greenish tones.

A pond it is  then!

TO give it a sort of water effect I made the base filled with holes and slightly bent, so they reflect through the stone looking like it was raining and drops are in the water, the little rings I tried to form a surface to do 2 things hold the stone in place and to be part of the pond like a water plant just floating around :

The band is one of the most architectonic things Ive ever made, In this picture you can see how the leaf has hidden prongs where the stone is held.. the band also forms part of the pond theme, I filed in a way  where they would look like a 2  birds heads and just the tip of the beaks hold the stone

(love how in this picture you can see the little frog just lying there on top of the 2 leafs )

[/img]

Im so happy with this ring it means 12 hours of work ,lots of dedication and proving myself that when it comes to jewelry we can make anything we want

Thank you for reading  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy and hope you have wonderful holidays filled with happiness and peace!!

8  If you are goingggggg to San Franciscooo... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: October 06, 2009 06:12:03 PM

Well you know  how the song goes Smiley .. this was made with sterling , glass and a cubic zirconia

Hi!  These are some new pieces I've been working on..

First well this was the first one I made, I had a bag full of shells and little things that I had found on the beach, the last time I went.. I like to keep shells in  a table for decoration or put them here and there.. hardly ever make jewelry with them.. but anyways I had this particular piece of coral which I started sanding shaping (soooo much dust all over) and formed until I had a shape I was happy with then made a setting for it and a band to go along .. Then added a wonderful 13mm pearl Id been saving for a while..

This is my Lemon! I learned to make leafs the other day so decided to make this piece where 2 leafs hold the stone in place, I really like the color of this agate is kind of nice to add a bit of  bright bright color from time to time..

a new flower ring Smiley

and the last piece for today is Olivia.. part of a line where cubism meets spanish ladies.. Tongue

And that's it! Cheesy  Comments are always welcome Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!   Cheesy Cheesy

9  This is my Aunt... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: September 22, 2009 02:17:50 PM
Well not literally.. but I am still working on my line of spanish ladies and they are all named after my aunts.. which happen to have very particular names .. I've made Mirania

And this one is Filena.

Made with sterling silver glass, lucite and freshwater pearls..  I really wanted to do something with her hat after seeing a movie based in the 1930s where girls use to hand stitch pearls, silk flowers to hats it's so beautiful.. well I gave her a little decorated hat..

Then I gave myself the task of making more earrings and these came out..

Pearls and Garnet

Little rose posts

This ring was made with a piece of jasper that has lived in my bench since 1993... (exaggerating)  Wink

So you can use it 2 ways the stones sits on your finger while the band is low in your ring..(hope I make sense)

A little pinky ring with Garnet too..

And last but not least a little bouquet of flowers holding a 12mm pearl..

This is what I've been up to .. need to buy more silver Christmas is around the corner! Cheesy

Thank you for taking the time to see this!

10  The secret balloon and some other pieces... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by natiux on: September 07, 2009 08:56:45 PM
Hi!

Just wanted to show what I made this weekend.. Cheesy Cheesy

In the front of this pendant we have a beautiful turquoise cabochon very bold and elegant.. but if one day you wake up feeling light and happy and just want to put on a long dress and flip flops and go for long walks just turn it around and you have a turquoise balloon with a green onyx..

this one is oxidized sterling silver and a turquoise cabochon.

This ring is very special, the stone was cut by such a fabulous artist and I was lucky enough to get it , I decided to set it but try and make it have a Victorian look.

The contrast of the blue Lapis with Pyrite and polished silver is so wonderful and sure catches the eye..

A little leaf...

A tiny pendant with ocean Jasper...

I've made a lot of pearl rings but these are new with a new freshwater pearl.. its a classic pearl ring..

And that's what I did during the weekend Tongue! for some reason I'm more productive day during the weekends ...

Thank you for taking the time of checking this out
