21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Chinese Knotting::Turtle Keychain on: August 28, 2005 11:24:07 PM
mynta, I think there's nothing bad in offering a tut, that's extremely nice of u, I'd wait for ur tut too.

btw, piggySTY those are the most adorable turtles. I'd luv to know how u made them, since I live in the other part of the world (Asia) I'm extremely sad I won't be able to buy it. PLEASE I'm dying for the magical tut. *anxiously waits*

i actually asked mynta to make the tut for me since i'm all out of materials (so i can't really make one can i...) & she said that she'll try to put it up in a week or two.
22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: TUTORIAL: Origami Wallet on: August 27, 2005 09:21:32 PM
i changed the pics so that they'd be a little bigger ... and i added instructions -- hope that helps a bit.

i dont have a scanner hooked up the computer right now so the pics were taken with a digi cam... sorry for the bad quality.

either acrylic varnish or mod podge is good -- mod podge actually waterproofs it too .. i've dunked a couple of my origami earrings into water just to see what would happen.  Roll Eyes yes i was bored...

I would buy it, it looks very professional from the photos (no loose ends, mistakes, etc.) but I'd want more vibrant colors, i.e. red and pink, greens, black and red... also I agree that $5-10 is a good price, depending on size? good luck

yeah, i agree... my friend has made everything from pastels to bright vibrant colors to neutrals....and because of that.. by the time she taught me...she had run out of all the colors 'cept white. soo i call it my albino turtle. Smiley

oh my gosh. you just triggered an old memory of mine...
the jazzy jewellery kits that came out around the late 80s/early 90s.. I used to beg for them as a kid, and get them for gifts all the time! and i can hear the jingle in my head from the commercial...

'Jazzy Jewellery, made by me! Jazzy jewellery, jazzy jewellery, MADE BY ME!'

but, nevermind that, I love the second and fourth pairs! very nice
-Cyn

that's EXACTLY what I thought this post would be about!!! i got one of those for xmas when i was little & i STILL haven't used all the little bits and pieces up.

the earrings are gorgeous though! loveeeeee them. how you get those teardrop earrings to cooperate with you is beyond amazing.

thanks everyone! $5-10 sounds about right.

I'm rather new at Chinese knotting--that turtle is the first thing I've ever made. It took me about 45 min...most of which was spent deciphering those SUPER CONFUSING diagrams...but my friend who taught me said that once you get the hang of it, it only takes about 15-30 min max. The only other problem i have is the lack of knotting cord. You can get it at craft stores around here, but its pretty darn expensive as compared to getting it in Taiwan, where it's pretty close to being free.

I'm no good with tutorials, but i'll try to scan in the basic diagram she gave me and explain it thru words. i dont have any cord right now to make a step-by-step photo tutorial.. maybe in the near future...
