18  first bodice (a bit picy) in Costumes: Completed Projects by alisonillustration on: August 08, 2008 07:53:54 PM
So, I was at the ren faire and decided that all the clothing stores were much too expensive, and that I could most likely make most of the items that were being sold for a most a quarter of their price with patterns I found for free on the interwebs. :B

I embarked on this journey with a bold move. A bodice. I used the corset/bodice pattern generator at http://www.elizabethancostume.net to draft my pattern and fudged my way from there. The bodice was create from a light muslin and a heavier one that I interfaced.

Here's my bed wearing it. Cheesy

and me wearing it. I did not make the shirt or the pants or the skirt. Hur.

Up close.

And back.

It gape a bit at the top back, but isn't as noticeable with the shirt. I think it's also a bit tight across the back at the bottom. Oh well.

Thanks for looking!

19  Re: Let's see your sewing machine!! in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by alisonillustration on: August 06, 2008 07:52:00 PM
I've recently acquired a sewing machine. Cheesy I got it on clearance at
Sears. <3
This is Abigail.

She's a Kenmore beginner sewing machine. She 's about half the size of a regular sewing machine and weighs only 5 lbs, which is great because I don't have much space in my dorm room. Haha. I've had some minor battles with her, mostly me figuring out the tension. She works really well for my dolling and minor clothes making needs. xD

Making rag dolls is so addicting! This is a newer pattern, so I have to tweak it a bit Cheesy

This little girl likes to dress up like a panda.

She's about 10 inches tall, made of cotton and stuffed with poly-fill and love. <3
