And White Trash Hero:
The best advice I can give is to invest in a thimble (thimbol? I can never spell that word) It depends on how thick the denim is but it shouldn't be too hard. But having a thimble/thimbol will help you if you run into difficulty.
Also if you've never embroidered before, get a book from the library that is just a stich diccionary. It is easy once you get it but it is always nice to have a guide by your side! Happy Stiching!

Last year for christmas I made a series of clay pens for my teachers. Each pen looks like the teacher it was for, this is the one I made of my math teacher Julie!
