1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / What to do with sharks teeth....other than make a necklace? on: September 09, 2007 06:03:10 PM
I have tons of sharks teeth collected at what we call "shark tooth island" near my house.  It's so fun to find them, but now we have quite the collection.

Any creative ideas of what to do with them (other than the obvious shark tooth necklace)?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Rainbow & black tulle tutu on: May 08, 2007 07:36:47 PM
Here's my tutu I wore to a pride prom.  It looks kinda a mess in this picture...but it's what I've got.

And the link to tutes.  I did it by the knotting method onto a strip of stretchy fabric.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Kitty hat from 1 continuous piece of fabric --- TUTE Added! on: November 28, 2006 09:53:35 PM
I did this project a long while ago, but I decided to take pictures a few days ago when I wore it and thought I should post them.

This hat was easy and I love the way the ears are placed.

Here's the pic, and the bonus action shot.

Thanks for all of the compliments everyone! So, here's the tutorial!  I used fleece for the fabric.  The bow is more fabric and the stripe is a strip of ribbon.  Start with a rectangle of fabric as illustrated below.

craftster doesn't like the colors Sad oh well.
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bling penny earrings! on: November 18, 2006 03:19:15 PM
I just bought some stud posts, and went on an earring-making spree.
These crack me up.  They're pennies that I wrote "Bling" on and glued to the posts.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A different way to resize shirts! on: November 15, 2006 08:49:55 PM
Hi everyone.  I haven't seen any posts about the way I resize my shirts, so I thought I'd share.
I might be what you crafty ladies (& gentlemen) would consider a lazy craftster.  I like to throw stuff together and just see what works.  Skipping steps is always awesome for me.

These things considered, I cringe at the thought of removing sleeves from shirts when they are just fine in the first place, just oversized.  SOOOO I do not remove them when I do my shirts.  I simply shape the shirt as so that the extra width of the shirt almost becomes part of the sleeve.  But it doesn't actually look like that's what's happening when you wear it.

So basically, I just cut off extras from the side of the shirt, and the bottom of the sleeve.

This shirt doesn't show it that well because I'm not the best at reconstructing yet, and the fact that I didn't make it very tight because I just want to wear it under t-shirts...but it does work and you can make the arms and torso slimmer in one big swipe!

Another bonus of this method is that the sleeves stay the same length!!!

Hopefully someone will find this helpful.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / PVC Lingerie on: September 26, 2005 09:11:26 AM
I made this outfit for our "Lingerie Fashion Show"  with my rocky horror group.  It was way easy.
The top tied in the back, and the bottoms were little boy shorts.  You can't see them in the pictures though Embarrassed

The only real reason for 2 pics is so my pink fishnets can also be seen.  I heart them.
7  UNITED STATES / Washington, D.C. / Where to buy cheap but good sewing machines? on: May 02, 2004 04:51:28 PM
Yay!  This is my first post here.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew where to get inexpensive but good sewing machines (other than ebay because of my lack of a credit card).  Thanks very much for any responses!
