1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: How's your Etsy shop doing now? on: July 01, 2007 06:06:04 PM
i opened my shop last october, these are my stats since then.  i know a lot of people said last month was slow, it was actually my best month, both on etsy and my outside ventures.  i hope it was not a fluke and a sign that my business is starting to grow.  i work in retail in my day job and have always heard that months the begin with a J are the slowest (jan, june, july)

oct- 0
nov- 5
dec- 3
jan- 2
feb- 1
mar- 2
apr- 1
may- 3
jun- 6

beag, i would not worry about what people say in the forums.  i hardly ever go in there, it seems just to be people complaining about no sales, how more expensive items don't sell, or criticizing what someone else is doing.  i feel that if they spent more time working on their products, photos, advertising, etc and less time in the forums complaining they might be more successful.

wow its been a while since i've been on craftster.  i did not know that they changed the interface.  my etsy store has been doing well this month, 4 sales so far and i put one of my high ticket items on reserve for someone who saw it at a craft show i did last week.  she is supposed to purchase it tomorrow, i'm excited and already have a list of new supplies and equipment i plan to order.

it depends on the size of the coin and the size of the hole that you drill, for womens sizes use a quarter or something similar sized, for mens a half dollar.

i did a little more research on this lady, and i know that she as a person is legit, and so is the "sugarcraft" exibit...im just not sure if the lady on etsy is the real lady from sugarcraft.

thanks for the feed back everyone.  i made a web site in college, but that was 6 years ago and i forgot all of the small amount that i learned, so it probably took me 10x longer than it should have.  i have my resolution set pretty high, so i was not sure how it actually fit on a regular screen.  i did not even think about the store opening in the same window.  i'm going to fix that right away, i dont want people to start looking around etsy and not be able to get back to my site.  although i suppose there are worse places for them to get stuck.  Cheesy

sarasvati i'm up for trades.  i'm poor so thats the only way i can ever buy anything.

tomate' i love those new earrings.  good luck with that wholesale thing.  i've had a few people contact me on etsy about selling things on consingment, but when i have asked more details about their shop/terms/etc or to see a contract they usually have not responded.  since she bought from you hopefully she is serious.

congrats beag and tiph on your milestones
