1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Cowl collar how to? on: August 05, 2014 06:01:37 AM
My sister wants me to make this for her: http://de.dawanda.com/product/37849969-Pullover-in-Gruen-und-Petrol-mit-Wasserfall-Kragen?partnerid=PinboardStatus&utm_source=PinboardStatus&utm_medium=E-Mail&utm_campaign=PinboardStatus&mail_tracking=_mail-de-pinboard_status-2014-06-24&utm_term=image
I have no idea how to make the collar part. Is it only a rectangle? Is it a slight trapeze with the longer side up? Please help!
Thanks  Smiley

Thanks!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Great white on: February 17, 2014 12:46:10 AM
Hello!
I made a "jaws" inspired purse.
It is made from faux leather and a bright red zipper.
It has an inner pocket and an adjustable strap.
I really suck at photography, Sorry!
Pretty much speaks for itself, doesnt it?

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / sheldon shellie sheldor cooper on: November 29, 2013 08:41:10 AM
I made this mini poppet as a thank you for a swap angel.

His shirt is freezer paper stenciled

His hair is embroidered. The filling came out a little bit. Sigh

His eyebrows are embroidered too. And his eyes are acrylic-painted

He has a backside too

His shoes are made from beige faux leather. I painted the brown parts.

Here he is in a typically pose

Another one. A failure attempt on the spock hand sign. He only has 4 fingers. It is waaaaaaaay easier that way.

I know I totally forgot to make socks.

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / unable to adjust thread tension on: October 28, 2013 04:23:54 AM
Hi guys!
Hope somebody has an idea. I bought a brandnew Toyota Super Jeans J26 on the Internet. I am totally unable to archive a proper thread tension. I tried every possible tread tension setting, changed needle thread and bobbin thread and the needle, nothing helps. Either the needle or the bobbin thread tension is too tight or it makes sloppy stitches. What can I possibly try yet? I know, I can just give it back but I want to make sure that I am not acting stupid...What could possibly be broken on the machine?
Thanks for helping me out.
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / The howling on: October 20, 2013 02:18:32 AM

So I wanted a wolf shirt.
The ones to acquire by purchase where either ugly or not my (plus) size.
So I bought a blank shirt, found an image on google (http://mybluegardenia.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/wolfmoon1.jpg), copied it on freezer paper and made my own.
After the white layer I did some dabs in a light yellowish-grey and a darker yellowish-grey color to give the moon some depth.
Finally did some dark little spots with a brush.
I love it.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Reef on: July 27, 2013 10:17:09 AM

So I made this for a friend who is into marine biology for his birthday.
I got all the inspiration from google and pinterest
I learned how to crochet "ribs" and corkscrews
Most of the other specimen are just somehow crocheted in rounds with more or less increases
The red coral is armed with a wire that I crocheted around
I tried to use rather "tamed" colors, he is not too much into vivid ones (at least that is my guess)
Lets keep fingers crossed he likes it  Grin

8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Wednesday Addams inspired mermaid poppet on: June 15, 2013 11:55:56 PM
So in the last poppet swap my partner had a lot of interests and I picked two to combine:
Wednesday Addams and mermaids.
I went with the mermaid Silhouette and and gave it a Wednesdayish color scheme and her pigtails of course.

starfish boobies!

here is a better look at her scales. I painted the back of fabric scraps with fabric glue and then cut and sewed on every scale individually. So worth the patience I think ;-) They gradient in size too.

and since she i a bad ass shes got a tattoo

handpainted eyes

and her pet dead fishy

Do you think she is weired?

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / simple cross stitched purses on: April 26, 2013 10:58:13 AM

Hi guys!
I made a bunch of the purses.
They are just a simple rectangle, closed with a zipper and fully lined.
I also added a cord.
I made the cross stitch motif by drawing a grid on the back of the faux leather and then applied the pattern.
The cross stitch is made with thin, acrylic wool.
Here are the results

and here is a compilation of the linings

I am totally unsatisfied with the "ending" of the zipper. Have to work on that.
How do you like them?

10  UNITED STATES / New York / Craft/Art/Fabric stores in Manhattan/near Time Square? on: December 27, 2012 02:58:17 PM
Hi guys!
I am going to New York soon and am going to stay in Manhattan, near Time Square. Does anybody know or can recommend any craft/art/fabric stores there or near there? I am amongst others looking for Angelus leather paint and fancy, not too pricey fabric.
Are there any craft related places I should visit?
Thanks for your help!
