1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / pillowcase skirt! on: August 24, 2008 07:43:23 PM
So, the other day I went to Goodwill and found this amazing set of yellow bedsheets.  I got everything (four pillowcases, two sheets) for $4!

I sort of winged this skirt out of two and a half of the pillowcases.  I didn't hem at all!  I used existing seams from the pillowcases.  (I also painted the shoes to match!)

In retrospect, ironing may have been a good idea.
This was my sort of "farewell to summer"; my classes start tomorrow.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / first dresses! on: August 11, 2008 08:38:29 PM
So, I actually made these back in June, but I was inspired to post them after a dress was posted that was made from one of the patterns I used  Grin

The first was New Look 6557 (view D, I think) in gingham!

I overestimated my size on this one, so that was a bit of a problem later on, but I did what I could, haha.  I really love this pattern, and I plan on using it more often.
I really want to make a petticoat for it, too.

The next was...a pattern really similar to 6557, but it wasn't (I can't remember what it was, but I'd be willing to look it up  Smiley )

I really really like this dress.  Like, you have no idea.  It's such a bold Hawaiian print, though, so I'm always a bit wary when I wear it around.
I showed it to the guy I'm crushing on, though, and he really really liked it (or maybe liked me in it?  Tongue ), too, which totally made my day!
