21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Locked Down on: September 19, 2007 10:53:31 AM
Shocked OOOOOooooooohhhhhhh hh! Prettyful! can I have one too Grin ? I love that! Did you have to add the holes? Where did you find the locks?  ((hittin' "this ROCKS!"))

Thanks! I bought the locks from an estate sale/auction. I actually couldn't figure out what to do with them so I was just going to get rid of them when she suggested a necklace. The holes were already drilled into the locks, it was perfect!  Smiley

Thank you, Feast Your Eyes!  Grin I picked up the pearl beads at the flea market. I like them a lot.

It has a nice weight, but it is not uncomfortably so.  Smiley I can picture it with all kinds of pretty dresses.

I am seriously in love with this necklace. It was a custom order and I may not be able to give it away..... just kidding! Smiley I just hope she likes it. You can wear both locks together (like she requested) or you can wear each necklace separately. All components are vintage. The locks are from the 40's/50's, I believe. The key is quite old as well, though I'm not sure exactly how old.

25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Painting metal jewelry on: September 16, 2007 07:21:16 PM
Which paint should be used on metal jewelry (specifically, pendant frames), to reduce the risk of scratching/scraping? I'll seal it as well, but I'm unsure if I should use spraypaint or...  Undecided

My attempt with plain ol' Krylon was unsuccessful.

You can buy bullet charms online, if they don't have to be the real thing.  Smiley
