5  2 new bags, gorgeous fabrics and plenty of pockets!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by seeingstars on: August 15, 2006 03:46:05 PM
So i made this pattern up myself, because i wanted something practical yet chic!! I have pockets in them both, as well as outside pockets. The glittery one has ribbon detailing and a cute little purse attached to it by chain! I love the glitter denim, my gran got it for me i think its gorgeous!
The purses each took me about 4 hours to make, the handles took me forreeeeeeeeeever! See how theyre really nice and flat? Yeah don't ask. If i made the handles a normal way, it would take about 2-3 hours.
Anyways enough chinwagging, on with the piccies!!

So this is the peach suede one. No interfacing, except in the handles. Yeah again, don't ask.

This is the inside pockets and gorgeous blue silk lining. Pockets are so handy!

This is the denim one. I love this one as well, it has a purse on a little chain hanging from the handles (on the other side of the bag) and ribbon details on the pockets. It also has pockets on the inside.

Outer Pocket with ribbon closure.

Little purse on a chain.

So what do you guys think? I'm really proud of them both, I lurve them!!! So practical, but really cool as well!!

very sparkly indeed! Cute purse too. What you could do with the handles is cut them off as low as possible and then insert them into the holes made by the cut. Turn the edeges inside then stick the handle ends inside them and stitch closed. If the zipper is in the way a little take your pliers and cut a couple of teeth off and stuff it all in there. If you have to hand stitch it to keep it in place then do it. Once you have it where you wnat it then flatten it all and stitch over it with your machine. It might feel bulky but you can flatten it enough to get it under the machine. If you feel it's too thick to get under the presser foot here's my trick: use a hammer and flatten the area with a couple of good whacks!! I mean it honestly I use three sizes of hammers by weight as to the flattening I need. But do be carefull cause a hammer can cut your fabric. But at any rate give this a try and you will be doing the zipper and the handles thing together in no time! But your purse looks great! Keep up the good work! DOn't give up on sewing you have  knack for it!

thanks! im still trying to work out what ur on about but thanks! im not too bothered about the handles on this bag, cos it was just a mess about session really, but for future i need to know. i really dont understand the instructions for the handle on the tinafish bobo tutorial! and thank you ill stick at it!

I like your style! How do you get those large rhinestones to stay on the fabric?

i sew them on, they have little holes at either end  Wink Tongue
