21  Re: Fitted Knits-along ? in Knitalongs by tajhia on: April 11, 2007 09:14:48 PM
here is my FO from this book...

the Back to School U-Neck Vest...

please excuse the bad pic..  more details posted on my blog and also posted on this thread in completed projects.....

am very pleased with it although I think the front is slightly too wide for my chest (back is fine - maybe I have a funny shaped body or something....  the boob darts are slightly too wide for me too - although it does fit fine over teh bust....)  may have to try modifying the next pattern........

I did it with Knit picks Wool of the Andes in Maple Syrup colour btw...

22  Fitted Knits U-Necked Vest... in Knitting: Completed Projects by tajhia on: April 11, 2007 03:06:01 PM
I finally finished the Back to School U-necked vest from Fitted Knits (not that I go to school, but I did like it.......)

Appologies for the quality of the pic of me wearing it - I had no one to take a photograph so had to improvise using the bedroom mirror....

Fits really well (I made the smallest size - 34"), but is possibly a bit short for me - I have a long torso...  next time I will make the ribbing longer...

I used 5 balls of Knitpicks Wool of the Andes to make this.....

I am about half way through my knit (doing the  back to school U-neck vest in some Knitpicks wool of the Andes).....

this is how far I have got so far....

It is going a bit slower than I expected because my kids are now off school for Easter break and I seem to be spending all my time keeping the peace and preventing fights!

hopefully I should have it finished by the weekend though....

24  socks on the cheap in Knitting: Completed Projects by tajhia on: March 30, 2007 06:25:32 PM
here is my scrooged entry - a pair of socks I finished last week......

Made from Knitpicks Memories yarn, which retails at $3.99 a skein, I bought 2 skeins and only used a teeny tiny bit of the second one - literally I ran out while I was doing the toe decreases for the second one...  so my estimate of costs is less than $4.50 - even if you included the shipping it probably cost me less than $10!  If I can find the card reader for the camera I will edit this post to include a photograph I have just taken which shows the amount of yarn left on the second skein.......

The colour of the yarn I used was Rocky Mountain Dusk, and I knitted them using the Ampersand pattern.

They are really comfortable to wear too!

More details about them is on my blog

25  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by tajhia on: March 18, 2007 07:36:23 AM
I've been lurking around this thread for quite a while and finally started a clapotis of my own (it was inevitable really Cheesy) I'm using some regular sock yarn I had in my stash.

I don't actually own any stitch markers, so I'm using anything and everything I can think of instead. So far I've used; 4 rings and 3 "bits" from a pair of broken earrings.

I finished one from sock yarn recently too - I just did it scarf sized though and then realised that I didn't need another scarf so I partially seamed the long ends part way along and turned it into a shrug........

I use assorted jewellery bits as stitchmarkers in an emergency too!

these were knitted using knitnpics sock yarn and the ampersand pattern (details in my blog)...........  used just over 1 skein of yarn for the pair..

and I am so happywith them...........

a close up of the stitching detail and colour..

I made one of these for my 8 year old and finished it last night....

I used Bernat softee chunky and added a button rather than the brooch to close it.

she loved it so much that she insisted on wearing it to school this morning

29  Re: Slouch-a-long! in Knitalongs by tajhia on: March 06, 2007 01:54:29 PM
Here is mine - modeled by my 4 year old "J".....

I couldn't get a decent picture when I was wearing it as I needed a flash and it kept bouncing off the mirror giving loads of glare, so got her to wear it for the pic....

obviously being made for an adult it is far too big for her.......

I used some yarn I had leftover from another project (TLC heathers in a mulbery colour) and used the Le Slouch pattern from knit and tonic, and did it all in stocking stitch...  am very pleased with it.......
