1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Family Cookbook on: June 23, 2004 02:28:13 PM
that's a really neat idea, my family's planning a reunion of sorts this summer, and i think i'll try something similar.
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: dried cherries on: June 23, 2004 02:23:43 PM
well, we decided to leave the cherries in the oven, but weren't around for a few days to check on them. it turns out the next day my boyfriends mom forgot they were in there and turned the oven up to 425 for a pizza. now they kinda look like petrified blueberries--just charcoal now.  Sad
3  COOKING / Dessert / dried cherries on: June 16, 2004 02:36:57 PM
my boyfriend and i picked about a pound of cherries yesterday and decided to dry them out. only we don't have a dehydrator or anything more than an old oven. he's under the impression that we just stick them in there for a few hours at a low temp and they'll be fine. but i'm worried that doing that will just kinda bake the cherries to our pans in their own juices.
does anyone know anything about this?
thanks...
4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re:Any ideas on home made eye cream or remedy? on: May 23, 2004 01:42:57 PM

You can buy it from them for $7 an ounce....or you can look to items like olive oil and such that have it in it naturally to make your own 'balm'.

buy from who or where? (i'm sorry i don't see an adress or store name...)
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Favourite theme party(ies)? on: May 10, 2004 01:02:20 AM
my best friend and i once planned a jon waters party (more like just pink flamingos) that sounds a lot like that white trash party. the only thing i remember clearly was brainstorming how to make brownies look like real poo.
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Mothers day meal help on: May 06, 2004 01:43:37 PM
smoothies and parfaits are always easy.
for a main course that doesn't take a lot of preparation or time is what i call easy jumbalya, but probably isn't jumbalya at all. i take shredded chicken and season it in a large skillet or wok with whatever i have lying around (garlic and oregano usually) and then add veggies, like corn or bellpepper or pea pods, a can or 2 of stewed tomatoes and some fresh cilantro, and then instant rice(reserve as much juice from the tomatoes and add enough water to equal the rice). you can add any kind of meat, like shrimp or sausage or all of the above, and no veggies at all if you don't want to. and i'm sure it could work with tofu or tempeh.
7  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Super Easy, Super Yummy Chewy Chocolate Chip Bars on: May 06, 2004 01:02:43 PM

8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re:Any good Indian/samosa recipes? on: May 02, 2004 01:56:49 AM
for a long time i was trying to think of a way to make samosas from scratch, and your post just reminded me to google it. this was the first website that came up:

http://www.outofthefryingpan.com/recipes/samosas.shtml

i might try to make them within the next month or so. it looks a lot easier than i thought it would be.
