1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Meet Maribel, a soft sculpture doll on: June 04, 2007 04:17:44 PM
I just finished her today. She's all needle felted, and sits about 9 inches tall and 10 inches from bum to feet. She's such a joy to have around!

...one more for size reference:

2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / A Vessel on: March 08, 2007 01:27:41 PM
My first vessel! I'm so proud.   Grin  (there's a glass with water hidden inside, holding the flowers.)

3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / witch's face (updated with completed witch) on: September 17, 2006 08:53:23 PM
I bought a book on making faces at a wool gathering yesterday, so I'm finally learning. This was going to be a pin, but I like her so much I'm going to use her on the witch that I'm making!

ETA: Here she is.

4  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Felting on the Martha Stewart show! on: September 15, 2006 08:01:57 AM
In an event of pure serendipity, I turned on the Martha show today (I never watch the Martha show) and they were wet felting! Joely Fisher was on and she and Martha were making finger puppets, using roving from Peace Fleece. At the end, Martha mentioned making felt beads, but they didn't get to it in time.

Here are a couple of links from their website:

Just thought it was cool to see felting on a mainstream tv show. Smiley
5  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / would this work? on: September 06, 2006 07:28:59 AM
I had an idea and I wanted to see if anyone had tried it before I dive in.

I want to needle felt a design onto a canvas tote bag. Just one of those blanks from the craft store. Would it work? Would I break many needles? Any tips/tricks?
6  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Lady Gnome of the Apple Blossoms (image heavy) on: July 10, 2006 09:33:19 PM
I am so excited! I made this little needle felted gnome tonight while watching a movie. She's so sweet with her apple blossom pink dress, green gnome hat, and juicy apple. She's all wool - I used natural roving for her base and added dyed wool on top. I love her (and my daughter does, too)!  Grin This was my first attempt at a 3 dimensional figure.

I'm going to go back and tuck in all the little whispies - they aren't too noticable in person, but annoying in photos.

So, what do you think?
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / where to buy foam? on: July 06, 2006 10:23:15 PM
I just completely destroyed my beautiful pink 10x15x1.5 block of foam that cost me $10 (!!!). I swore I had some around the house, but I can't find it. So where can I buy some cheap (yet nice) foam? I know I can order it online, but I'd like to pick some up in a store tomorrow. I'm impatient.  Grin
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / my floating peace cranes on: July 05, 2006 06:22:55 AM
Didn't everyone make origami cranes in elementary school? I had to look up instructions online at first, but I was surprised at how much I actually remembered once I got going! I had a lot of fun making these; they were such a quick and easy way to brighten up my kitchen. Standing at the sink washing dishes is a little less mundane with them flying around above me.

9  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / first project - needle felted tote on: July 03, 2006 07:15:15 PM
Hi all! I'm new. I went to Fiberfest up at Lake Farmpark here in Ohio a few weeks ago, and I was inspired to try needle felting!

Here is my very first creation - a funky felted bag. It's kinda rough looking, but I think I like it.

The back side (blue) is a little chunky. Next time I'll be sure to spread the layers of roving out thinner. But overall, for my first effort, I'm happy with it!

I know this question is probably asked often, but how much do you think one of these might sell for?

I'm so glad I found this forum. I've already learned so much!
