1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bone Cross Necklace Redux on: July 24, 2008 11:47:47 PM
Some of you may have remembered the chicken bone cross bracelet I posted way back when.

Many crafters suggested that I turn it into a necklace instead.

Here's the revamped Bone Cross Necklace

Chicken Bone + Wire + Hemp + Chain + Jump Rings + Clasp = This Necklace

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vest! First large scale sewn item. on: July 24, 2008 11:43:09 PM
made out of a shirt wayyy too big for me. (it was a medium just to show you how small I am.) anyway here's the result:

I'm rather proud of it for a first time doing something like this. I like the fit. Kind of wished I didn't use the side with the design on it though. grr.

I also decided to use a zipper since I love zipper detailing but it's not one that can be split apart like a hoodie. oh well.

also, the zipper doesn't like to stay flat. I had it in a package where it was folded in half and the fold won't go away. sorry about that.

Anyway, hope you liked it!

I need to find some cheap slip-on canvas shoes that are blank.

Like these except blank:

Does anyone know where I can get a whole bunch of them really cheap?

Thanks for any help!

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / boyish something from something girlish? on: June 03, 2008 04:51:48 PM
so my mom has this top that has a bunch of holes and she wanted to throw it away.

I stole it instead because I loved the color and the random design.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I can make with it that would be rather boyish. I'm a pretty femm guy btw so anything would be somewhat acceptable for me. haha

my last resorts would either be some sort of scarf thing or I'll just sew the bottom shut to make a lightweight bag for my sister.

thanks in advance!

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / worried that using a design by someone else will get me in trouble.. on: April 28, 2008 07:29:38 PM
so I'm planning on making two shirts that have designs I really love, stuff I've never seen before that really tickles my fancy, but they're not my designs.

one was intended for a shirt while the other is a book cover.

my question is, do you think I'd get in serious trouble if I reproduced these images onto a shirt? they'll both be shirts I'll wear often if I really like it so it'll get lots of outside attention, which is why I'm a tad worried.

can anyone clear this up? thanks so much!

8  COOKING / Dessert / Making an almond cake.. Help test out a recipe? on: April 06, 2008 12:07:12 AM
I had to make a video for my spanish class in which we had to cook authentic spanish food like in a cooking show.

We ended up making 2 dishes (we only needed to make 1) with the desert being an almond cake.

The problem is, the recipe we followed was horribly written and when we finished the whole thing was a soupy mess.

I'm thinking of using this recipe: http://spanishfood.about.com/od/dessertssweets/r/tartadesantiago.htm

but I'm always nervous about cooking things that don't give too many detailed pictures to see how it really comes out looking.

Can someone check the recipe to see if it will actually make something deliciously lovely? Sorry that I'm such a novice at this..

Thanks so much in advance.

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / LDN STS pins on: March 19, 2008 07:19:02 PM
I wasn't too sure where to put this, or if it was crafty enough, but here are pins I made out of an old London street atlas from the 1980s:

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / painting poster board but avoiding warping? on: March 11, 2008 09:12:43 PM
Can anyone suggest any tips to prevent poster board from warping after I paint it?

It's just the standard white poster board which I'm painting on the non-glossy side so the paint sticks better and the paint is just acrylic..

Thanks so much in advance!
