51  indian-inspired bed canopy (pic heavy) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: February 21, 2007 01:29:18 PM
check it out! i made a canopy for my bed, although its being modeled by a chair because i havent put a hook in my ceiling to hang it up yet. i used gold tulle with sage green and white satin, with gold embe;llishment on the green. the top looks pretty ghetto but who's gonna be looking at the top anyways? it was my first attempt, ive wanted one forever... any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!  <3

the lovely chair model

without the chair

you cant see this in the pics, but i also sewed gold buttons all over the green fabric as well, all courtesy of my grandma's collection!

52  crazy bright "hippie" hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by nat_attack on: February 20, 2007 09:06:25 PM
well i started this with no real sense of what it would be, i just made a big stripey circle and then i thought... hey, this could be a hat! so i made a headband and a brim and sewed it all up. i dont think it looks too good on me, i think these kind of hats look better on curly-haired people... but i still like it.

ta-da!

the back... true colors right there. whew bright

53  laptop bag for the boy (5 pics) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: February 16, 2007 03:32:57 PM
well my boy is getting a laptop with his tax refund and i flaked on valentine's day so i figured i'd whip him up a neat case to carry his new toy in. i made it with my new serger and padded it with fleece. the green is canvas and the lining is a vintage bedsheet my grandma gave me. i still have tons of the lining left. i started at about 10 this morning and sewed nonstop until i wondered what time it was and remembered that i had a doctor's appointment at 1... i checked the time and it was 12:58 so i had to run out in the middle of it to get my gardasil injection, but then i was able to finish it. time flies when you're in the zone!

the whole shebang

i found these in my grandma's collection, first time ever using these. i dont know what they're called...

retro-tastic lining! the square is a pocket

the inside, with the padded divider pocket for the laptop

oh yeah.

i hope he likes it and that it's masculine enough. there are some issues but i think it should hold up. it took me all day. bags are harder than clothes sometimes!!!

54  this ain't a scene, it's a... MOTO JACKET in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nat_attack on: February 08, 2007 01:38:45 PM
okay so i have been lusting after these moto jackets that have been popping up on these boards and decided that i just had to have one. i found this really stretchy XXL pink and black striped turtleneck at the thrift sto' and it sat in one of my many fabric buckets until i got the cojones to try to make the moto jacket. because seriously dude, it looked hard. but it was easier than i thought and it turned out passable for a first attempt. i guess i should quit rambling and get to the pictures... apologies in advance for sickness looking and bathroom pics.

a horrible, crappy-stitching-highlighting picture of the neat asymmetrical pockets

i used my new serger for everything but the topstitching and the zipper (which i ripped out of one of my mom's jackets... shhh!)

i pretty much love it. what do you think?

55  Lavender and white raglan tee in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nat_attack on: January 02, 2007 03:50:43 PM
I had this giant white t-shirt my friend had given me for my birthday- he drew this really cool peace sign and put it on a shirt with an iron-on transfer. unfortunately he put it on a huge white T that well, just didnt suit me. So I took the sleeves off a purple shirt I had and added them, also resized the T to fit my body. I like it!  This was the first thing I've reconstructed using the nest christmas present ever, aka my new serger!

thanks for looking Smiley

56  Retro 70's mushroom pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: January 02, 2007 03:31:37 PM
I made this pillow out of some old bedsheets my grandma gave me. The mushrooms were cut out of some other fabric she gave me and appliqued on. The stripes are seam binding. It's about 9x12", just a little couch pillow. I like the colors Smiley

60  so....uh been a while. img heavy... 2 shirts, hat, and dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nat_attack on: July 30, 2006 08:33:15 PM
been a while... here's what i got...

simple resize, and I added the black bands.

this shirt is AWESOME.... bright blue with black stars. It was huge and ill-fitting. I just resized it, but I'm thinking of making it more "blazer-ish", with a lapel and rounded bottom hems.

I am so proud of this hat. I made this hat from an old robe all my myself with no pattern and not even a hat to look at. It is so crappy and unfinished but I am still proud. The pic doesnt really show it but its a newsboy style cap.

best for last!! and the only one with a before pic...

my face cracks me up, haha. the polka dots were the only thing this dress had going for it.

after!!!

Yay! cute!

I love you!! peace out girlscouts
