31  Hooty Who? in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by nat_attack on: November 24, 2007 06:46:01 PM
Okay so here is my color theory project for my 2-D Design class... "Design a mock-up for a stained glass window."

18"x24" on drawing paper with gouache.

It was well-received, hope it is the same here Smiley

Lovies!!

EDIT: Sorry for the bad pic quality, I resized the images in MS Paint and I think it compressed them all weird. :/

32  My elf costume with funky eye makeup! in Halloween Costumes by nat_attack on: October 27, 2007 03:27:01 PM
So I decided to be an elf for Halloween. Not any particular elf... just an elf. I made the cloak and did my own makeup. All other items I had or borrowed.

Not sure why an elf would do the Captain Morgan pose but whatever :p

This makeup is what I wore to the party. And the ears? plain old scotch tape.

The eye paint in this pic is gouache... that stuff was so uncomfortable and a PITA to get off.

Oh and this one just because it's fun.... There is a broken mirror leaning up against the back of my house haha

33  Re: Fall/Winter Scarf Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by nat_attack on: October 19, 2007 11:56:56 AM
I recieved from Merliquin today!!! I woke up, made some coffee and got on Craftster, saw her PM saying that she had sent. Then I walked out onto the porch and it was there! Did you use the magic fairy mail or something, 'cause that was FAST!

PLease don't mind the crazy eye makeup, I was taking pictures to put into the Art of Makeup thread on the Bath and Beauty board.

The scarf is so awesome! That stitch pattern is so intricate and it's just the right length!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

I LOVE FINGERLESS GLOVES! I was just thinking the other day that I needed to get some for the upcoming winter!!

These little lavender-scented heart soaps are SO FREAKIN CUTE! I used to make soap, I should get back into that...

ONLY my FAVORITEST CANDY ever!!!

THanks so much, my first swap gets an A PLUS! Now I'm so nervous MErliquin likes her package!!!

35  I might have carpal tunnel, but I think it was worth it! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by nat_attack on: October 17, 2007 01:21:41 PM
So this is an assignment for my 2/D Design class... create an animal portrait using only symbols. It's 17"x14" on recycled drawing paper with a .05 Micron pen.

Yes... those are all symbols. Oodles and oodles of tiny tiny circles. I also used the number 7 and the ankh symbol. I drew the whole thing in pencil first then went over it in pen. my hand hurts...

another close-up

I hope everyone likes it! I spent a lot of time on it. Let me know what you think Smiley

36  black, white and red pleated tote *4 PICS* in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: October 07, 2007 12:16:40 PM
So my boss at work gave me some shirts that were too small for her and said she'd pay me to make them into purses. This is the first completed purse!!

I looked over this tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=49030.0 and just kinda ran with it. the black and white fabric is a tank top she gave me and the red fabric is some canvas I had laying around. Here's the final result!!

Her name is Rene

The inside with the snaps I installed (first time!) and the inside pocket

She loved it, I gave it to her Friday. I hope she likes the others just as much!!

37  Re: deep V polkadot wrap shirt.. 5 pics :p in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: September 18, 2007 01:49:23 PM
This is exactly the type of shirt I want to make, except that I am too well endowed.  I swear, I have thought of laying down on paper and being traced just like I did in 3rd grade to be Thomas Jefferson  LMAO.  Anyhow, I do not feel like, cannot afford to buy another pattern that doesn't work for me, so any hints would be helpful.  Your shirt is great!  Oh, specifically, since I have never owned a shirt like this:  how many inches/far over d you do the wrap, how does it exactly wrap, and would you think it would be too *risky* for a large breasted woman?  Thanks!

Well, I'm a really visual thinker, so I drew a diagram to kind of explain the construction of this shirt. Please excuse my crappy MS Paint skillz.

This is how the shirt would look if it didn't have sleeves and was layed out on the floor on its back, the sides unfolded. (I hope that made sense.)

Each side of the shirt wraps up to right under my boob, and kind of nestles there, teehee. the side with the hole overlaps the other side, and i pull the tie through the hole and then wrap both ties around and tie them in front.

I don't know about larger breasted women... i think it could work if you made each side longer than usual, to give some insurance against nip slips. the way i did the V was to cut the front two pieces straight across initially, then i put i on and pinned it to an appropriate length.

hope this helped!!

38  deep V polkadot wrap shirt.. 5 pics :p in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by nat_attack on: September 17, 2007 03:47:07 PM
OK so it's my day off and I'm SICK! So I holed up in my NEW craft room and made this baby. It's funny because we just moved in and I don't have a chair for my sewing machine yet. And it's in the basement so I lugged the damn computer chair up and down two flights of stairs to make this. Not an easy feat when you can't stop sneezing. OKay enough chitchat let's get to the pics!!

and a myspace angle for good measure haha Smiley

Alright there you go! This was my first attempt at a wrap shirt, I didn't use a pattern. I have a weird method which involves laying down the fabric on the floor and then me laying on top of it and just eyeballing it that way.. haha.
It's made out of a old baby's crib bedsheet, some old white scrub pants for the ties, amd the last of my green lace trim that I had JUST enough of. ah, kismet!

Peace Smiley

39  "French Lavender" Fat Bottom Bag! in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by nat_attack on: September 15, 2007 08:52:50 PM
So, here's yet another FBB to grace this wonderful board... my first time doing this pattern, I finally overcame my fear and I loooooooooove it!! I finished it in about 3 and half days, did most of it at work... I couldn't wait till I got home to take piccies so excuse my office pics haha. I used a hook two sizes bigger than reccomended and I love the size, it's perfect! I also opted for crocheted straps instead of handles. Okay enough chitchat heres the piccies!

The lining was a pain in the butt but it turned out okay. The color is off here, I promise it's not really icky dishwater gray...

This is a lot closer to the true color of the lining.

Yay for crocheting on company time!!!

Thanks guys, I know there's a lot of FBB's on here but I guess that's because it's such a great pattern!
