Okay so I recieved from mrsmartin428!! I must say, she is a really good crocheter!! Her stitches are all very tight and even, and her items are finished very well! I'm a crocheter myself and it was really hard to find the seams and ends of the yarn. I always have to try and hide all my messy ends :p

Okay so lets get to the piccies!!

All the swap goodies together... all crocheted items!!!!  There is an AWESOME deep red bag with the cutest little crocheted leaf appliques, a red cloche hat and scarf set, an a navy blue armwarmer (the armwarmers were on my wist, i might add) and hat set.

The awesome armwarmers... with kitty in the background. :p

The blue hat...  I like to wear it kind of slouchy.

The blue set together... at this point I think its safe to say I was in total dorky model mode, lol

THe red cloche hat... and my silly face, haha

The red set together... the scarf is so long!! It hangs down to the middle of my thigh. The yarn is divinely soft as well.

THe awesome bag!!!!! I love this so much, seriously. I can't believe it was your first time crocheting this pattern, Lauren!!!

I will be so warm this fall/winter thanks to you! I love everything!! I hope you like your package as much as I liked yours!!!

15  Wall Decals from dollar store contact paper... mushrooms, birds, and bonsai tree in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by nat_attack on: September 28, 2008 02:23:29 PM
OKay so this was ridiculously easy. Almost too easy. I've seen those blik wall decals that are like $30/pkg and I just cant swing that. So I used these tutorials from Threadbanger and Istructables to get the basic idea and went to town.

http://www.threadbanger.com/decor-it-yourself/episode/DEC_20080520
http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Vinyl-Wall-Art/

I purchased one roll of brown translucent contact paper from my local Dollar Tree. It turned out to be maybe 18" by 2'.

Our living room in the apartment is so freakin boring... I live with three guys between the ages of 21 and 25 so you can imagine the atrocity that is the living room. I added some mushrooms and grass growing from the couch and birds flying towards the sunset. although one of my roomates said they look like bats. Oh well.

(The glare cut this off a little. One thing about using dollar store contact paper is that its not matte.)

Then, feeling pumped up from that, I moved some posters in my and my boyfriend's room and put up a nice bonsai tree:(Excuse the boy. He was sleepy and wouldn't move out of the way.)

I love it! it really classes up the place  Wink

I did this as sort of practice for when we move in december... moving to a new house that my roommate bought... it has a separate apartment in the basement so he and his girlfriend are going to live upstars and me and my boyfriend have own own space in the basement. We already picked out paint colors and we have a lot of plans.  I want to do my bathroom in deep teal and white and do a giant peacock feather decal on the wall!!! I'm really excited, I drew up some sketches already Smiley

comments welcome Smiley

16  yellow mesh beanie for fall! yay! in Crochet: Completed Projects by nat_attack on: September 13, 2008 12:33:40 PM
Okay so I saw this pattern on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mesh-skull-cap

and I immediately wanted to make it. I havent crocheted all summer... its more of a fall/winter thing for me. yesterday i saw some golden yellow leaves on the trees and wanted to match it.

its perfect for this time of year because its mesh (its still pretty hot down here in atlanta), but its still september! i cant wait for all the fall/layering/boots cuteness.  so i made this.

i ended up not following the pattern because i got totally lost so I just winged it. i think it turned uot pretty good.

ok im rambling. here are the pics!

rockin it with my yellow bag i got from bonnaroo...

let me know what you think!

18  Cast Iron Squid Sculpture in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by nat_attack on: June 30, 2008 04:02:43 PM
So... I made this squid in last semester's Three-Dimensional Design class (I'm working towards a BFA). It was a months-long process. The assignment was to create a relief sculpture out of oil clay with a area of 4x4 inches. My idea was to do a squid and I got special permission to do three separate sculptures to execute my "artistic vision", haha. Let me just say that 12 square inches of cast iron is HEAVY!!! I had to lug it home in my purse on the subway... not ideal.

The oil clay was weird to work with. My art teacher made it himself.  It smells like motor oil and doesn't dry out. After we made the sculptures we made a mold for the casting out of some kind of weird green sand that hardened. I was there for the iron pour, we did a midnight iron pour party for our class and poured red hot iron into all the molds. It was very exciting and fun to watch... like fireworks!!

After the iron cooled we had to sand down all the extra iron attached to the sculpture and clean it up a bit. I had pictures of the mold and the iron pour on my phone but I lost it... so I hope these pictures of the finished product suffice Smiley

Here we go....

for scale:

I hope you like! It's one of the most favorite things I've ever made Smiley Let me know Smiley

EDIT:

Oh! I found a picture of the original clay sculpture before I cast it in iron!!

EDIT v2.0:

OH MY GOD!! I'm a featured project?!? Shocked Shocked

THANK YOU SO MUCH YOU GUYS! You have no idea how happy that made me!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys on Craftster so much!!!

And now the next one!

Sweet Birdie Necklace

I just wrapped silver wire into the shape of a bird on a branch and hung it from a 20" silver chain

I hope you like! Let me know Smiley

Okay well I recieved an AWESOME package from Kiwi_Chickie on Wenesday! I was so excited I opened it at a red light when I was driving home, haha. Well, ripped off the paper and peeked, anyway. Tongue

So on to the shroomyness!!!

First thing I saw when I peeked in the box?

These adorable appliqued dishtowels!! I love them, the mushies are so cute and I needed some dishtowels!

Next up is this appliqued tank top with PURPLE MUSHROOMS on it!! And I dont know how she knew my size but it fits perfectly and its just the right length. The little mushie is awesome too. I mean, mushrooms+purple= maximum awesomeness. it seriously cant get any better.

I love this necklace! The mushroom looks like an owl wing! I put it on the second I got it.

Ok so I am an earring FIEND. And Kiwi Chikie definitely enabling me in my addiction Tongue  These mushroom earrings are so cool. I love the red and white ones and I love the Shrinky Dink earrings especially because I made her Shrinky Dink earrings too! Great minds think alike Smiley

All the loot together!!

I am seriously in love!!  Kiwi Chickie and I are both going to Bonnaroo so... if you see a girl in that purple tank top up there... its me.   Wink  Thank you so much, kiwi and ritapizza! This swap was awesome!!
