21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / beaded feathers on: May 28, 2006 01:35:13 PM
I'm guessing that I'm not the only one here whose read the Heralds of Valdemar series at some point or other. In the books theres a group of people called the Taleydras (sp?), who wear these beaded feathers in their hair. So, I started making these back in highschool, and found that their a really effective meditation exercise. I can't even estimate how many assult charges have been avoided with these. I usually make 1 or 1/2 per sitting. their just feathers I found and disinfected, decorated with really thin wire, stuck through the barbs of the feather, with beads. enjoy!

22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / bjd- I can't afford one, So I'll make one. on: May 20, 2006 07:47:27 PM
OK, so for literally years I've been lusting after those haunting, gorgeous Asian ball join dolls. But even if I had $600 lying around, I couldn't justify it to myself or my fiance. But, what is crafting for if not getting me things I can't afford to buy outright? So, I'm going to take a stab at making myself a knockoff. I'm a good sculptor. However, I don't know how to put in eyes, add hair neatly, or do moving joints. I may just skip the moving joints actually, that seems like alot of trouble. Especially since I don't have any casting supplies. So, has anybody tyred anything like this before? I'm mostly brainstorming at this point. suggestions? warnings?
23  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / lobster monster, renfest aniversary, and a blackout on: May 19, 2006 06:49:40 PM
Hello:) this is my very first crafster post! Here are 3 of the pages Ive put together, for my grand project of a lulu press bound book containing my lj, potfolio, and a scrapbook.

The first is my fav- a memorial for doctor Harold Zoidberg. I have several friends I wouldn't have met without that loveable lobster. He was quite a craft project all by himself.

next, a page from a blackout several years ago. we played apples to apples by candlelight, disposing of the popsickles. I was surprised how well the pics came out. the ones with the..uh...gourds...are my former room-mates.

I attended an anime convention recently, and it was OVERRUN with catgirls. The most cliche and cheapest of all costumes. At least they would be, but my costume, the catgirl hunter, was free. thats 2 pairs of ears, one tail, and a collar hanging off my belt.

and...what I realized later was probably our 3 year anniversary, at renfest.

comments welcome. I have many, many more to go. like the saucy puppet show we saw on valentines day, the funerals of my two goldfish, the zombie dystopia panel....
