1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / "pow wow" party skirt (image pow wow!) on: May 16, 2008 02:45:47 PM
so after doing up the "hippy pow wow dress" i wasn't sure i'd wear it out and so i made a skirt instead!
i got the idea from http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=231819.0
i made some stencils from paper and stenciled my fabric which was about 2.4m long?

i had some ribbing and i stenciled that too.the ribbing was the exact width as my waist maybe an inch smaller as it streches.

then i sandwhiched the yellow stencilled fabric into the two layers of ribbing and ta-dah!!!

i also added a zip and it looks dodgy but...i'm too tired..

pow wow skirt!
much more wearable than the dress, me thinks?but still...the colour's a bit...costume-y..

oh well!it's already 5 am over here and i am through for the day! Cheesy
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / hippy pow wow dress and feathered head dress! on: May 16, 2008 08:22:25 AM

i took two nights sewing this for a party i'm going for tomorrow but i think it  is over done and too crazy to wear out so i will sew something else tonight and see how it goes.
sigh.
Sad

front:

back:

and the sides!i love the sides!!

on the other hand, i think it'll be great for halloween!ahahhahahahha!!what do you guys think?
the fringes were done with tie dyed t shirts cut up and then sewn on to the jean dress.
pretty easy to sew as i already had the pattern.but when i tried it on i realised it doesn't fit too well around the bust.or maybe just because i'm pretty flat chested.
sigh.

anyways i also did the feathered head dress...couldn't find a good tutorial so i just kind of...tried and tested...
hope you liked it!
xoxo
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / hand embroidered techno ethnic dress from scratch (comments appreciated!!) on: May 16, 2008 03:06:20 AM
i did this for my final year project in school
this was hand embroidered and inspired by the history of bolivia (where i come from) and old incan weavings.

the dress from the front and back

back detail,

front detail,

and skirt detail

it took about 1week to finish off, sewing was easy but the hand embroidery/applique was crazy.

comments very much appreciated Smiley
