1  Ugly Vintage Scale --> Glamourous Vintage Scale! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ViciousGossip on: May 31, 2010 07:59:55 PM
I found this beat down vintage scale at the thrift store for $8 and thought it could use some snazzing up...

I had my boyfriend scrape off the nasty green plastic from the top while I:
-made a template out of sturdy glittery vinyl ($8 for 1/2 a yard)
-popped off the silver part and removed the dial
-spraypainted the sides of the dial and the sides of the scale ($3 for spraypaint)
-took some tinfoil off of my leftovers in the fridge and covered the top of the dial (made for a cool, textured metallic look!)
-slathered Aleene's tacky glue to the top of the scale and attached the vinyl

After letting the glue and vinyl adhere together overnight, I trimmed down the sides of my vinyl, glued em in place and ended up with my new fabulous scale!

I was stoked at how perfect it came out! Super cheap and easy little project!

2  Neon Stuffed Animal Charms (my 1st time with shrink film!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by ViciousGossip on: March 03, 2008 09:21:10 PM
I just made these last night, I think they turned out pretty cute! It was my first time using shrink film (cant find shrinky dinks anywhere, but I'm assuming shrink film is the exact same thing?), so once I practice a little more I think they'll be better...

I used my own drawings! These are tiny, only 1 inch tall.

Oh and I used a heart shaped hole punch if you couldn't tell what those holes are, haha.

3  Itchy sailor-y thrift store sweater into non itchy sailor-y top! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ViciousGossip on: January 23, 2008 11:45:35 AM
I got this frumpy sweater from the thrift store and originally wanted to take in the sides to make it fitted and hack off those awful sleeves to turn them into cap sleeves instead. So I started to do that, but the material was so damn rough and itchy (acrylic and "frise" ??) that I decided to just cut off the cute part and sew in onto an old top. And here we have it:

After:

It's a little off kilter, but I don't care cuz I think it's way cute anyway!  Smiley

4  Thinking of covering (gluing) my tv in faux fur...help/suggestions? (2pics) in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by ViciousGossip on: December 02, 2007 01:53:21 PM
So I saw this in the amazing book PAD and totally have been wanting to try it!

In the book it says he used "ersatz animal skin" (Huh) and contact cement. I have some faux fur and hot glue. Do you think it will work? I'm just wondering if there will be any issues with it actually affecting the tv itself...such as it getting too heated up or something.

Here's my tv:

So what do you think??? Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thanks!

6  Kitschy Cute Tijuana Donkey Hair Clip! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ViciousGossip on: October 27, 2007 03:29:10 PM
I was bored this morning and started looking through my drawers full of odds and ends and ended up creating this:

I took an old boring hot pink hair clip and hot glued a piece of neon green felt onto it. The donkey charm was an earring I bought from Naughty Secretary Club a while back, but it was broken. So I hot glued that sucker on top, and there you have it! I really love how it came out! Cheesy Let me know what you think!

7  Monster Fur Tissue Box Cozy in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by ViciousGossip on: October 02, 2007 04:50:00 PM
So I'm home sick from work today and decided to make a cover for my ugly tissue box since I've been looking at it a lot lately due to my runny nose!

It was super easy to make and I just used some leftover fur I've had sitting around. I love it!

8  My Houndstooth Toilet Seat! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ViciousGossip on: August 11, 2007 07:33:41 PM
I just finished my new toilet seat this morning. I didn't have any paintbrushes so I used tape instead of paint! I'm not sure what type of tape it is, kinda like masking tape only a little stronger and it's black! So I drew a grid on the seat in pencil, covered it square by square with the tape and cut the design with an exacto knife. I didn't seal it with anything, I'm not sure what to use...but anyway, here it is, I think it's way cute.
