This cake was amazing because it was both beautiful and delicious.
The cake consisted of a layer of brownie (I always use the Good Eats brownie recipe), a layer of chocolate mousse (another Good Eats recipe), a layer of brownie again and a layer of raspberry mousse. The whole cake was then frosted in chocolate ganache. It was decorated with raspberry mousse and chocolate.
I wish I could eat this cake again.

AsheLeopard's post reminded me of the gingerbread house I made with a friend last winter. It was not as professional looking as AsheLeopard's, but I was still really proud of the end result.

We first designed the house with posterboard and then set out making the gingerbread. We used jolly ranchers and life savers for the windows. We then piped on the royal icing details. I also put a strand of Christmas lights inside the house so that the windows looked like they lit up. The only problem with the whole project was that I live in humid Florida, so the windows soon began to weep (run down the whole house) and the gingerbread got really soft in only a few days.

I have been playing with resin lately and have had a variety of problems (lots of air bubbles, flexible finished pieces, tacky finished pieces, etc). But, I had my first success today! Woot! So, I present a necklace containing my first actual batch of resin beads. (These were made with resin, vellum paper and powdered pigment)

So, I have been playing with food latley (you can see my Chocolate Tiara here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=181348.msg1885496;topicseen#msg1885496).

This was the first time I attempted to make a character cake and only had a picture to go on. I am pretty happy with how it came out. I had a lot of fun playing with the icing colors to get them the correct shade.

Just in case you are wondering, this was not made for an elementary school kid. It was made for a graduate student. We are not dorks. I promise. Well......maybe we are a little. Anyway, here is my Mudkip (a water type Pokemon ) cake.

I have been known to make a cake consisting of brownies, chocolate mousse, and chocolate ganache. For this, I have dubbed myself the Queen of Chocolate and made a chocolate tiara to inform the world of my status. I freehanded the design made of dark, milk and white chocolate. This particular tiara is actually the fourth I made. The others did not survive long enough to take pictures. Fortunately, the prototypes were delicious. I think this is my husband's favorite craft project yet.

As most of you know, decorating an apartment is very frustrating with the prohibitions on painting. So, one has to get a little more creative. For me that means doing everything I want to do on plywood and then hanging it up with those amazing picture frame mounting strips that do not damage the surface to which they are affixed. So, as our kitchen was awfully plain, I attempted to jazz it up a bit. I was inspired by this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=30320.0  and then just took off from there. I tiled the backsplash and the cabinets were done with paint, paper and then given a topcoat. It is awfully bright, and I am trying to brainstorm ways to tone down the cabinets. I would like the tone to match that of the tile in the backsplash. I was thinking about using a paint glaze of some color (darker purple or a slate gray-like the grout on the backsplash) over top of the cabinets. Do you think that will work? Any other ideas?
Anyway, with no further ado I give you my kitchen.
