Details of Swap...
Following on from our hugely successful Hogfather and Springtime on Discworld swaps, I present 'Fall-ing for Pratchett', a swap to celebrate this most spooky of seasons (and also, 'Making Money' and 'Wit and Wisdom of the Discworld' [which I suspect Conley wrote, so gifted is she at remembering all those wonderful Nanny-isms] both come out on September 24th!)  Think vampyres rising through the Lancre mists, Vimes huddled beneath his oilskin cloak as the Ankh Morpork drizzle threatens to dampen his cigar, a new intake of first years for the Guilds and freshers at UU.

Swap Requirements...
Really, this is up to you and your partner to agree, but I have asked for an indication in the questionnaire so I can pair people up.  As always, I like a lot of communication between partners in my swaps, and this will be reflected in your feedback.

If you would like to participate, complete the information and send to esmerelda, putting Discworld Swap in the subject line. Please, do not post answers in this thread, but I would be grateful if you could all post 'I'm in' or something here.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Wizards and Witches and Trolls...oh My! - Fall/Halloween Discworld Swap on: September 03, 2007 06:56:04 AM
Cooee!  Yes, so I know I said I would organise another Discworld swap this year and in summer no less, but you can't blame a lady for taking a break!

So, my Disc peeps - anyone up for an autumnal/Hallowe'eny themed swap?  Given the dark and twisted world of Mr Pratchett, I think there are plenty of ways we could run with this swap.  I would think that sign-ups could run until Sept 21ish and then sendouts around October 21ish to give 10 days before Hallowe'en.

What say you all?
4  EUROPE / GERMANY / Fabric/yarn shops in Munich on: April 16, 2007 06:35:18 AM
Guten tag!

My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Munich soon and I was hoping to get some recommendations for fabric and yarn shops in the city.  In particular, if you know of anywhere that sells Westfallenstoffe fabric, please let me know!

Wielen danke!

Details of swap:

"Springtime, for Discworld, and Naa-anny!"

Yes, it's that time of year again, when no crystal glass is safe, and you'd best guard your goats if you don't want to be drinking yoghurt for the foreseeable future.  The dark and gloom of Hogswatch, Ick and Offle are behind us, and Nanny is about to take her bath off its nail and tune up her banjo.  So, if you fancy gathering nuts in May, or a good slice of carrot and oyster pie ("carrots so you can see in the dark, and oysters so's you've got something to look at"), come and join the Springtime on Discworld swap!

7  KNITTING / Knitalongs / 2007 Sock-along - August theme up on: January 07, 2007 12:22:45 PM
I have set myself the challenge of knitting a pair of socks each month this year - anyone want to join me?  I thought that, instead of doing random pairs, I would have a list of different styles/patterns/colours and would knit the socks in that order.  So, for January, I was going to use the free pattern that came with the Colinette Jitterbug yarn I bought, so January can be random pattern month (also because it will be my first ever pair of socks!), then in February I have a pattern in mind (although I can't find it at the mo', it's in my favourites list on my work computer) that has hearts on it, etc.

Patterns

January - "Sock-yarn pattern" i.e. the pattern that came with your yarn (if they did not give you one (meanies!) then pick any pattern you like)

February - "Love" theme challenge (see page 6)

March - Stripes, stripes, stripes (see page 9)

April - Knitty Lace

May - "May"-walkers

June - New yarn, new pattern

July - Citrus bright

August - Cookie A. Pattern

September -

October -

November -

8  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / My Country Doesn't Have That Round 7 - Angel not needed! on: December 19, 2006 04:29:59 AM
Hi peeps!

Unfortunately I need an angel for the My Country Doesn't Have That Swap.  pharasalia, who is from the US, got flaked on in her very first swap, so please help me to reassure her that the swapping process isn't all that bad!

Here is her list:

I, pharasalia, having PM-d the organiser and been approved, post my list of countries I would like to receive from and claim Zombieflesh.
I am from the USA (FL) and this is my first claim (and my first swap! woot!).

Countries I am interested in receiving from....

1. Japan/asia - anything geisha, poetry/haiku related, anything to help me learn the japanese language, children's books, comics, anything traditional or cultural, anything related to kimono or japanese textiles, stationary or writing implements/paper/origami, yarn!!, sweets/candy/unique food, tea, magazines, mix-cds, spices/recipes, anything related to buddhism, anything related to karate.

2. Peru/south america - coca tea, anything inca related or related to macchu pichu, sweets/candy/unique food, paper/stationary, magazines, beads, spices, trinkets/touristy stuff, anything to help me improve/learn spanish lol, poetry/books

3. India/Egypt/middle east - spices, yarn, beads, little religious statues, anything related to buddha/hindi/yoga/meditation, paper/stationary/writing implements, anything unique to the culture or traditional, sari or sari fabric, coffees/teas, candies/unique food..

4. France/Italy/Russia/Europe - pretty much the same stuff.. interested in wool/yarn, mix-cds, candy/unique food/chocolate, spices, recipes, paper/stationary, beads, magazines/poetry/books, traditional or cultural things, trinkets/touristy things, etc.

5. Any other countries other than my own... the things I've listed above in other categories I'm interested in pretty much all over the world =). I'm all over the map. I love to knit so yarns from your country that would be hard to get here are especially appreciated but I have an interest in learning languages, reading, writing/stationary items, poetry,  and music from all over the world as well... you can never go wrong with candies, food items, or spices from your part of the world. I love things that are fun, interesting, random or weird. I like comics, anime, horror movies, goth/punk/hard rock stuff as well as traditional/cultural stuff.

If I do get sent anything that is traditional/cultural... can you include a little background on it as well... I'd like to learn about the country I'm receiving from if at all possible as well. =)
