1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Husbands 30th Birthday Party - geek theme? on: October 22, 2010 04:11:38 PM
Hi!
I'd like to throw a small (about 10 people) party for my husbands birthday--but I think things are always more fun with a theme! My husband is a big, proud geek. Firefly, Buffy, battlestar galactica...general science fiction and fantasy. I'd love to somehow work a theme with this, but I'm so unsure about what to do!

I love to do papercrafts, so if you have any cool decorating paper ideas, I'm there! Or...i don't even know what. I'm so lost!

Possibly important note:  we're vegan. But most of your non vegan food ideas, I can make vegan, I'm a pretty awesoem cook.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Quilled Griffin on: March 01, 2008 02:36:21 PM
I figured this was the best place to post this, even though the box isn't paper, the real project is the quilled Griffin on top, which is paper. If this is wrong for some reason though, please let me know what I should have done.

I find it difficult to make things for my husband, but recently I went ahead and decided to make him a box. We both love blue, so I painted the box cobalt blue, and spent a lot of time working on the Griffin I quilled on the front.

This is the top of the box I made for him.

Originally I was just going to do the whole thing in light blue, but as I was going I realized it looked boring, and slowly worked on picking places to put in some light purple. Figuring out the colors and what shapes to make and just everything I wanted to do for this took a really long time. I like how it turned out though.

This is a shot of the box from the side to just get a better idea of what it looks like.
