3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: FALLS! (kinda) on: July 27, 2006 07:17:42 AM
well, I'm not exactly going AS someone, more like my entire outfit was inspired mainly by Frank.  But since i am a woman a consequently, not a male, i modified my costume so that it would best suit me... not a cross dressing man.  yeah. i am terribly excited!

So, a little back story- i have short hair, and Ive always wanted dreads but im too stubborn to grow my hair back.  And normal falls wont work because I dont have enough hair for a pony tail or pig tails.

Now, in about 2 weeks i am having a rocky horror party (thats a whole different thread entirely) and I was completely lost when it came to my hair.  I could always faux hawk it, but ive done that before.  then i had a stroke of genius.  well maybe not genius, but i felt pretty creative.  so one headband, a half a ball of yarn, and about 12 glue gun burns later- i have falls!  actually, i dont know if they're considered falls... whatever it is... i love it.  they make me feel like a completely different person, which is important when i put my rocky horror costume on ( i'll post those pictures after the party).  any enough with my gabbing...

oh so happy with my hair

and just for fun:
let there be lips!

(those are mine btw)

hope you like it!

ps. wearing it in a ponytail is the only way it covers my hair. maybe i'll post pictures of it off my head later, but i'm wearing it right now and too tired to take it off.   Grin
5  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! on: April 11, 2006 08:07:15 AM
wow i've reached the end...
101 pages. how's that for dedication...

anyway.
my prom is June 8th so i have PLENTY of time (only not i love procrastination) and i really want an original-ish dress. ive only been dress shopping once and i was totallly unenthusiatic about all the dresses.  they all look the same. so ive been insanely searching through simplicity and mccalls and so on and so forth looking for a pattern.  (i cant sew, but my mom can... and i can watch.  im a very good observer)

now here's the thing.  i actually have a date this year... and i like him (big deal for me) this means that i cant go completely bizzare and extreme like i do sometimes... dont want to scare the boy away...

and here's the other thing... im about 160 pounds... and most of the models on the cover of these patterns are about 100 pounds skinny-er... and its really hard for me to get an idea of what im going to look in it... hmmm kinda important...

i also dont like poofy dresses (no offence to those who do) and neither does the boy.  but most of the flowy-like dresses cling to the curves (and not the ones i like)...

and i want to avoid looking like a sausage... hehehe... breakfast foods have no place at prom.

im so stuck. gahh...

also the boyfriend has a thing for pirates and i was thinking maybe doing some kind of damsel in distress type of thing... i dont know... a wench wouldnt really be appropriate... would it?  well he'd like that.... we're so weird.

any suggestions... words of wisdom... prayers?

something! anything!
gahh!

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Rent Stencil! on: March 09, 2005 04:11:55 PM
So i dont remember where i got this stencil... but i LOVE it...
i've already used it several times but i thought my apron for work needed some spiffing up... ok, alot of spiffing... spiffing's a funny work... spiff...
anyway... so, working at a craft store we are allowed to be... well, artistic with our aprons... those damn red horrid scraps of fabric... Angry
but now its pretty! Grin
and i wear it with pride! Cool
yay!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New Kids on the Block Skirt! on: November 08, 2004 08:12:04 PM
heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
this was a pretty simple skirt.  well.  i wouldnt know.  i made my mom make it.  she has yet to show me how to use the sewing machine.  damn her!  anyway.
this was a sheet i bought at Goodwill for 3 bucks.  i saw it and nearly had a hissy fit.  yes, im alittle to young to actually be a true fan of New Kids, but anything 80'S like this sends me into caniptions.  so woot.

this is me in the skirt-

its a wrap skirt so this is the skirt all laid out on my messy messy floor

and this is a close up of the totally tubular sheet

(if this actually works i will be so freakin happy.  im better at this crafty thing than i am at this  computor thing)

oh oh ohhhhh oh oh ohhhhhhhh oh oh ohhhhhhh THE RIGHT STUFF!
