1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / CHRISTMAS! ...on a budget? on: October 07, 2008 06:33:17 PM
Lets face it, times are hard financially.  People are penny pinching, and they should be.  People are losing money in the stock market, jobs are scarce, and some of us just let our boyfriend, mom, and old manager talk us into quitting our job at quiznos against our better judgment and are starting to regret it.

But... THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP!!! My personal favourite time of the year, a time of cocoa and trees and parties and wreaths and caroling and all my favourite things about life.  A time to spend lots and lots of money!  But there in lies the problem: now isn't a time to be spending lots of money.

So does anyone have and thrifty/cheap/recyclable money saving tips for the holiday season?  If you have any ideas at all I'd love to hear them.

Cheers!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i need some help from knitters and/or RENT fans on: May 21, 2007 10:06:32 AM
So, basically i want to knit mark's sweater from RENT, but i don't know any good patterns for it.  I'm not exactly the worlds greatest knitter either, i came on here as a hooker and a sewer, and i just recently picked it up.  Can anyone give me a pattern for this, or something to work off of, or just some advice?

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / I don't want to be the latest trend!! on: September 30, 2006 01:32:55 PM
SO i think this is the right place to put this, and i need to rant...

I am basicly my school resident craft person.  Not to brag but they pretty much crowd around my purses and scarves and other stuff i make (they had never heard of a pop tab purse-- sad), and then ask me to fix their shirts, necklaces, ect.  The really annoying thing started when the schools resident identity-less wannabe decided to try her hand.  Basicly she has gone through trying to be a goth, a druggy, a raver, a nerd and is now going for crafty.
I know i should be flattered, but the thing is, she's starting to take after my crocheting in class and she isn't all that good.  By not that good, i don't mean that her pieces turn out lopsided, i mean she can't do anything but chain.  I showed her how to single crochet and she needs my help every few minutes.  This also happens to be in band class, where one can't get away with crafting when trying to play the flute.

I'm a little irked, so thats my rant.  Bye bye now.

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Swaps for Emilys, Jessicas, and the like on: May 29, 2006 11:01:44 AM
Okay, heres the deal:  I was looking at swap ideas and saw one for people with really unique names.  It looked really cool and all, but, as my name is possibly the most common in america, i couldn't exactly participate.

My idea: a swap for people who are sick and tired of hearing there name, turning around and realizing that they were calling for someone else.  For people who know like 4 people who share their name.

We all have little liscense plates with our names on them, right?
How bout getting some different states and that sort of thing?!
