Your mask inspired me to make my own attempt:

Did you do anything special for yours besides square of fabric + elastic?  Mine's probably about as effective as holding a finger over my nose, but I'm not really intending mine to be functional.  People are even starting to decorate real masks, which is cool!  I love this guy's:  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthpicturegalleries/5243655/Decorated-swine-flu-surgical-masks-in-Mexico.html  Good, crafty way of taking one's mind off a terrifying situation!

Best!  I love the mini cheeses, probably cause I'm less of a sweet tooth and more of a ...cheese tooth?  Anyway all of them are super well done, bravo.

19  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Electroluminescent wire - any advice appreciated! on: March 27, 2009 02:44:19 PM
I am designing a baby mobile for a niece-on-the-way, and I'd like to know more about working with electroluminescent wire.  Pardon the newbie questions but this is definitely an area in which i have no experience!

1) Concerned adult question first: is EL wire safe to use around babies or will it sprout a third arm?  That would make knitting sweaters for my niece very difficult, see.

2) Can the wire be safely woven through knit or other fabric, or is there any danger of burning through?   What about in heavy paper, like card stock?

3) how simple / hard is it to rig the EL to switch on and off?  I imagine neither parents nor baby would want the mobile lit 24/7.

More questions to come as I think of them!
