1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Sweet beet! on: October 12, 2009 08:10:49 AM
Thanks all Smiley  and barbecued beets?  That sounds genius.  I may have to fire up the grill sometime soon before it gets too ridiculously cold here!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Buttercreme Fingerless Gloves on: October 09, 2009 02:03:49 PM
Lovely job, they look delicious!  Maybe it's because you used the word "buttercreme" and it's 4:00 and I'm hungry.  Anyway, bravo. Smiley

Here is a recipe: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Beet-and-Goat-Cheese-Salad-with-Pistachios-107426

though I just used olive oil, because where am I going to find pistachio oil  Huh, and I also had no lambs lettuce so I used parsley.  So yummy!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Sweet beet! on: October 09, 2009 11:58:52 AM
Once upon a time, I thought I did not like beets.  I'd only ever had the kind that came out of a can, and i distrust things that come out of a can that are THAT colorful.

Then I discovered roasted beets, and came to my senses.  Beets really are an awesome vegetable:

So I knitted one for a friend, who loves beets so much she plans on getting a beet tattoo!  (She'd probably love that beet capelet, too, but my sewing skills are not up to par so this toy will have to do).

Beets are great from a visual standpoint - I recently discovered there are gold beets and even candy-striped beets, so I might be making some sisters soon.  Thanks for looking!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: 'Normous shirt to 'reet cute skirt! on: August 04, 2009 12:23:30 PM
Cute!  I might have to do something similar to this as I have holed jeans and a buttoned shirt that has overshrunk.

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / bike rain jacket on: May 13, 2009 03:47:59 PM
It's been raining so much in my area, a friend of mine was thinking about building a damn ark!  I soon got really tired of having a damp tush by the time I rolled into work each day, so I applied my crafty skills to the problem:

Closer photo of the fabric:

None of the stores in my area had oil cloth or cute vinyl print (all just upholstery, in varying shades of ugliness), so I just backed some thin clear vinyl with cotton.  I loved making this, especially the grommets - had no idea they would be so easy to install!
