2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Deck of cards = awesome, easy, romantic gift! on: February 23, 2008 09:32:15 PM
my bf of almost 5 yrs really liked it. i am happy he appreciates these kinds of things. sometimes i think he might be more sentimental than i am. he noticed how the reasons are more humorous at first and then gets more lovey dovey. i showed him its because the hearts deck is last and he thought it was clever.

i used computer labels to do all of it. i also printed out pictures of us onto the labels to stick on the other side of the cards.

thank you very much for the idea!
you have also tempted me to buy a xyron machine, and i just might unless i figure out something better to buy with a 50% coupon from JoAnn.

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: The Fidget in SWS Natural Plum on: February 15, 2008 09:51:22 PM
thanks betty bat! its very interesting how 5 inches is too wide for some people and too narrow for others. mine does hang a little looser around my neck, but i like how it tucks in by the chin. i basically eyeballed it and got lucky. There must be a reason the pattern wants it 4 inches wide though...it probably works for more people.

and i totally know what you mean about the button placement! i had the exact same thought about putting the buttons on the wrong side...and i was even thinking about how women's and men's shirts have buttons on opposite sides. so i looked at the pattern site and saw that she had both left crossing and right crossing fidgets for sale. so i just made sure it felt right for me and went with it! i would definitely test it around your own neck before sewing the buttons on. its a simple thing but very easy to overlook, especially on a gratifyingly quick knit as this one.

i love this idea!  thanks for sharing!

if i cant come up with 52, i think i might just do 13 for all the hearts cards. 13 isnt such a great number though so i think i should add a joker for a silly one!
