21  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Show off your hair! And questions about hair styles! on: April 03, 2007 01:12:55 PM
So...I was bored today and rememebred I had a fresh jar of MP 'Hot Hot Pink,' but no bleach. Sad Anyway, my mom usually dyes my hair (she was a cosmetologist), but I just decided to go for it on my bangs.

Before (Not my natural color):

After:

If the weather wasn't so crappy, I would get a pic in the sun. It looks less subtle outside. Smiley

aw, ellie, i can't see most of your pics!

as for questions - is there a "proper" name for that pompadour-ish style girls wear?  you know, where there's a pouf on the top and the rest is in a ponytail?  how do you do that?  i can't figure out how to make it look edgy and not floppy.

It's usually referred to as a 'pomp' for short. Here's a tutorial:

that's adorable. it really is, and i love the fabric. would you mind sharing where you got it? i think i'd like to make a copycat skirt, if you don't mind. Smiley
I got it at Joann. It was on clearance, about $2.50/yd.

Thanks for leaving your comments, everyone.

I was afraid that the raw edges should have been hemmed, but they're going over well. I might keep them like that.

This began as a circle skirt but turned into my first finished garment that isn't a recon. I wanted it to follow my school's dress code, but I cut my fabric a bit too short. That's what I get for not measuring, but I digress.

I added an extra tier to the underside to add length. I wanted the waistband to have a button closure, thus forcing me to use the buttonhole foot on my sewing machine for the first time. Twas a success. Anyways, on to the pictures:

Are the beads strung on blue wire? Pretty and creative! What did you use for a closure, or do they just slip on?
27  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Fused Art Glass Pot Melt Pendant on: March 01, 2007 01:14:10 PM
Oh that is beautiful! I am drooling. I love that kind of thing. It even looks like there's a face in there, like you did that on purpose. How cool. I wish I could do something like that.
Yeah, I see a face too.

The colors are so pretty, especially the swirls towards the bottom left.

This sounds interesting, but does it unravel when you cut the thumbhole?

Your sock is beautiful. Let us know when the second is finished. Is it your own pattern?
