21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How many sweaters did you knit before you got to one you would WEAR? on: October 31, 2006 01:51:48 AM
I'm having a bit of a knitting crisis. I love to knit, but I am now knitting my fourth sweater and I still don't feel confident that I will wear it. I have made beanies and scarves etc and have worn all of them, but my luck with sweaters is non-existent!!

I don't know if it's because I always substitute yarns for cheaper alternatives and then hate the way it feels, or if I choose patterns that dont suit me, or if I'm just a wasteful knitter...

Does/did anyone else have the same problem? How many sweaters did you knit before you got to one that you were proud to wear?!
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Anyone familiar with Sesia/Lane Borgosesia Windsurf yarn? on: September 23, 2006 06:35:42 PM
I'm about to knit some baby booties for my friend's little baby, and the pattern calls for the above yarn.

Unfortunately I have done a search on google, and have been unable to find anything about the yarn.

Is anyone familiar with it and can tell me if it's wool/cotton etc, what weight it is that sort of thing? Thanks

24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help - Stupid Question about 1 step buttonholes! on: June 04, 2006 01:28:08 AM
Im about to finish my first little jacket, but I'm having trouble doing a buttonhole (never done one before). I have a janome and it has a 1 step buttonhole feature.

However when i go to do it, it just sews a really long line...

Is it supposed to do the entire button hole , or am I supposed to stop the machine at a particular length, turn it around and keep sewing?

Sorry for such a stupid question!  Embarrassed
