1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / The Fly - 2 new pics on: January 07, 2007 10:55:37 AM
Here's the fly I made for a german knitting contest.

We had to knit some secret wool, which was sent to us
in an envelope. Design was completely free, but you
weren't allowed to knit something wearable.

You could add 50g of other things (yarn or other). This was good... ;-)

Thingy consists of:
turquoise yarn (from the bag - weight doesn't count)
black mohair for the wings (10 g)
wire for the wings (3 g)
straws for the legs (6 g)
a tea ball (24 g)
a balloon for grown-ups (it fills the corpus) (3 g)

You can see all knitted things there:

Thank you for looking!

New Edit:

How big it is:
proboscis ~ 6 inches
proboscis-diameter (at the bottom) ~ 1,25 inches
wingspread ~ 12 inches
corpus with head ~ 8 inches
legs ~ 6 inches

Thank you very, very much for your comments! This makes me soooo happy! Yay!

Two new fly-pics:

Wings aren't asymmetric, SHE's just moving...

By the way: what's the (not crafty) meaning of the idiom "running with scissors"? Thanx...

I still can't believe, but I'm the winner of the contest!!! Yay!!!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cleaves on: June 17, 2006 02:54:04 AM
What do you need the most while it's 104F at day and not under 77F at night?

Yeah, right: a CLEAVES like shown at Knitty.com in a airy thick, cotton merinoish wool, knitted on size 10 needles in a summerly color: turquoise violet black...

here it is:

and if every model has so much fun while taking pictures (I bursted a few times with laughter), then it's the funniest job in the world!
(and if every model has the next morning so much pain in the neck as I'm having today after this bizarre pose for the picture, its possibly a really bad job! so please: be kind. it hurts...) Wink
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / We can't stop here! This is bat country! (bat pattern requested) on: May 22, 2006 08:21:42 AM
hi all!

I'm looking for all sorts of knitted bats. perhaps some bat intarsia or even things formed like a bat?
searching for all sorts? no, not really. anything but batman-like bats...
I'm looking for the darker side of knitting...  Grin

any ideas?

thanx for looking!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I knitted him a 'yorick' and he sewed till I broke out in tears... on: May 21, 2006 11:33:49 AM
Hi!

after unfinishing my first knitting project ever (an orange scarf in garterstitch - hey, I was only nine years old!) I laid down needles for about twenty years. and a few days ago I ran into yorick at knitty.com and decided to make this scarf as a surprise for my loved one with knittinghelp.com...

the scarf is not perfect, but here it is:

after doing so, I maked my fianc another knitted item: a cookie (found here at craftster in the "knitted food diet"-topic):

and instead of calming me down from my knitting-delusion, he sat down at the weekend and sewed me a circular needle-case, - this act of love moved me to tears! what a wonderful needle-case! what a wonderful man!!!

my knitting-experience - it isn't much good. yet. but I've got to stay on the ball, don't I?  Grin
