I just finished my doll and I wanted to share the pictures. Anything I sew is immediately claimed by my 2 year old, even when it's obviously not for her (like clothing in my size, lol). So lately I've been making her little dollies & stuffed animals and I decided that this doll was going to be for me!
She is from a vintage pattern and the included drawing of the finished doll is so sweet looking. I think mine turned out sweet, but not in the same way. The instructions were vague and I had trouble with the outfit (so she's sewn into it, no outfit changes for this girly) but I'm happy with the end result. I told my husband that if I were to make this again I'd probably enlarge the pattern to make it double the size, this was to small and fiddly. Plus I suck at hand sewing (which I needed to do with this doll & her clothes) so if it were bigger I could probably machine sew it all.
She's got string joints so she's lightly pose-able. Her hair is acrylic yarn and sewn on with the braids glued down. The color is pretty accurate in the pic where she's sitting down. My daughter requested that she have blue eyes, I know her eyes are crooked (as are her ears) but I still think she's cute. She's approximately 15" from head to toe.
I included the one of her faceless and hairless so you could get an idea of her head shape. No naked pictures though. She looked really odd. I was sort of reminded of how Lord Voldemort looked in the last two Harry Potter movies. Put it this way, when my husband came home and saw the doll body sitting on a chair (I was making the dress) he said "what is that creepy thing", lol.
