I sent you a PM- I'd love to meet up!  I just moved back to the DC area (where I grew up) and am looking for crafty friends.
2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Boston - Recycle Shop at Children's Museum on: May 16, 2008 04:15:39 PM

This is another amazing resource in Boston for recyclable materials.  It's like the children's museum store times 10.  It's cheapest for Boston Public School teachers, but anyone can join and pay $30 for 4 visits (in a year) and I think $50 for 8 visits.
You can take as much as you can carry in a visit (although some popular items have a limit on them).  They also have some furniture type items that are for sale (usually $10-20)
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Re: Easter "Egg" Tree on: March 26, 2007 04:09:30 PM
We used to make something similar for xmas when I was little.  We'd dip yarn in a mixture of white glue and water (watered-down glue), then wrap it around a balloon.  You can also sprinkle glitter on them before the glue dries!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Quick Question on: February 09, 2007 07:33:05 PM
you can buy the kind of foil that the kisses are wrapped in at most craft-type stores, or anywhere that sells candy making supplies.  They usualy have little squares of candy foil in a million different colors- so you don't have to worry about ripping the original foil.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: A bit broad I know... on: December 03, 2006 09:47:17 AM
I'm one of the oldest of a bunch of cousins, and I've been making/buying gifts for all of us for years (I think I started when I was 10).  When I went off to college a couple of years ago I didn't have much time for elaborate crafting of gifts or much money to buy gifts... so I decided to do stocking-type gifts for all the younger kids.  We don't usually do stockings in our family, so this was a novel idea.  I purchased a bunch of silly little novelties items (mini slinkies, silly putty, holiday themed playing cards, christmas jewelry, etc) as well as making up bags of funny holiday candies.

I did: red hots= reindeer noses, pillow mints= elf pillows, malt balls= reindeer poop, white gumballs= snowman poop, red berries= mistle toes, and made cute little tags for each baggie of candy.  I "borrowed" this idea from some candies I'd seen in stores, but it was cheaper to do it myself.

I know my little cousins loved the candy, and their parents probably liked it better then giving them a bunch of toys that they'll hardly ever play with and just take up room in their house.  And all the other little things were cheap enough that even just playing with them for 2 weeks was fine.

Does anyone have the address/more specific directions from the T?  I'm hoping to get there soon, but can't seem to find anything with this info (why doesn't every store have a website to make my life easier?!?).
Also- anyone know their weekend hours?
Thanks!

Bringing this up again, as there has been some interest in getting a new group started for this year.  I'm willing to organize, if there is enough interest.

I'm bringing this up again...  I'd really love to find a group this summer!
I haven't had any luck finding a SnB group in Bethesda, but maybe someone knows of one?
Or if there're any more crafters in the area who'd be interesting in starting one?
