1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Burlap Gift Bag on: December 29, 2010 02:31:29 AM
I wanted to make a bag that resembled one of those brown paper gift bags that the stores pack your purchases in.
I used burlap for the main part and a coordinating cotton fabric for the handles and front pocket. It has a mitred base and is fully lined in a burnt orange cotton.
All the long edges are sewn down to give it a crisp finish like paper has.

I made it look like a hamper by filling it up with a nice assortment of groceries and gave it to my brother for Christmas.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First custom order. on: February 07, 2008 02:49:56 AM
I have been really busy lately and haven't had too much time to post.
This is my first custom order outside of family and friends. It's a slouchy bag made out of Cherry Blossom fabric with a felt bird applique.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Halloween Zippered Pouch with Beaded Spider on: October 30, 2006 04:06:37 AM
TITLE: Halloween zippered pouch

I made this out of a black organza spider web fabric over a green backing fabric. The lining is a vintage orange satin. The base is mitred so it stands up on its own.  The spider is made of different beads from my stash.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First knitted clutch on: August 23, 2006 06:20:48 AM
I was planning to make a felted clutch, after seeing all the lovely felted things around.

Unfortunately I knitted the main piece only to learn that I should have used pure wool instead of synthetic yarn for the felting to work.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bags, bags and more bags. on: July 15, 2006 07:01:22 PM
I've posted this in bag challenge 5 and a couple of people suggested I post it here as well.

My obsession is bags, bags and more bags. I've been wanting to do a bags on bag for
a while and this challenge inspired me to put needle to fabric, and make a start.
It's all hand stitched and I used felt and some vintage fabrics I had. The ribbon rose is hand made as well.
The main part of the bag is 8"W by 5"H.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Silk Bag on: May 09, 2006 03:42:24 AM
I made this for my nieces wedding recently. I didn't have time to get a new outfit but I wanted something new, so I decided to make a silk bag with ribbon roses. What do you think? Smiley
