so, i've only just begun playing around with polymer clay, but i have to say i'm hooked! i got into it to make beads, but first i had to make some silly stuff...

the cake is a bit of an inside story, but the cat is just grumpy. polymer clay is super fun! enjoy!

2  fuzzy awesomeness! (i.e. legwarmers) in Knitting: Completed Projects by dasyatis on: August 13, 2006 08:28:21 PM
yes, that's right, i said legwarmers...my boyfriend has been begging me to get some (i have no idea where he's getting it, i just figure it's best not to ask) and so instead of buying some, i made some! i wouldn't know where to buy legwarmers, anyway, this not being the 80s and all.

so, while viewing this you have to keep in mind that i'm a beader at heart, who is trying with all her might to master knitting. it has not happened yet, but it might someday. i made these using the smallest knifty knitter loom.

(please excuse the little pieces of paper on the floor. my kitten decided that the toilet paper was threatening her today.)

i have to admit that i scoffed at the idea of legwarmers for a long time ("hello! this is not the 80s!"), but these are surprisingly comfortable and warm! i recommend them to anyone who likes to hang out in shorts but gets slightly chilly.

3  crystals and wires and chains...oh my! in Beads: Completed Projects by dasyatis on: August 04, 2006 11:58:42 AM
so, this is the first piece i've done that has incorporated chain and heavy gauge wire, not to mention action swarovksi crystals. i made if for my fiancee's mom, who was over and seriously hinting that she wanted me to make her something ("i realllly want a necklace with red beads, but i just can't find one that i like..." or "wow, your crafts would make really good christmas presents..."), and i really like it, so i'm thinking of making myself one in blue. it is based on a pattern from creative wire and beaded jewelry by linda jones, which i just picked up last weekend. hm. the pics are sorta blurry...oh well.

tell me what you think!

here is a site with a butterfly pattern-don't know if it is the same one you used!

i've done this one! the picture is kinda poop but it was fun to make!

lid89, i like your bracelet- the butterflies are way more simple and elegant than mine! i might have to make another butterfly bracelet  Cheesy

i had more pics but the colors are truest in this one. my beading muse is trying to convince me to do more beading tonight...hm, go to a canada day party or bead? sorry eveee, i gotta bead.

made while watching xfiles during a thunderstorm on a saturday while the cats fought over sitting in my lap- perfect beading conditions!

6  beaded cuffs in Beads: Completed Projects by dasyatis on: June 25, 2006 07:46:24 AM
I love doing bead loom stuff, but I really hate finishing my pieces off (it involves sewing all the loom threads into the work- pain in the butt!). So, i decided instead to glue the theads to the "bottom" of the piece and sewed it on a cuff! Much easier!

I beaded this a while ago but never got around to posting it (I actually totally forgot about it).

action shot!

Unfortunately I don't know when or where I'd where it, but I still like it.

9  gift for late mom in Mother's Day by dasyatis on: May 13, 2006 11:44:14 PM
so, here's my fancy first post...

i lost my mom last year, to a hit and run accident. very, very sudden, and i'm still really messed up over it. i thought about writing her a mother's day card every year, and saving it, but i could never get my self to either pick out a card or write one myself. then, in a flash of inspiration, i thought about how she loved cats and purple things, and thus my little crying purple cat was born. or produced, or crafted...whatever.

the stitching isn't great, and everytime i look at it i burst into tears, but i'm happy about it, too.
