1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Help! I need a vegetarian dish for spanish class! on: December 15, 2007 05:41:55 PM
So, it's almost winter break here, and we're having a potluck in Spanish class this friday. Everyone's assignment was to make a dish from any Spanish-speaking country, document the process of making it, and write a few words about it. I'd really like any ideas/recipes for preferably vegetarian dishes (we have a vegetarian in our class, and it seems everyone is making meat dishes! Just looking out for her... Smiley) If you could also provide the country of origin, or anything i should know, that'd be just swell.

Thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / pin-up style bathing suit? on: April 11, 2007 12:38:50 AM
I would really appreciate a tutorial/pattern recommendation for a 1940s pin-up style bathing suit!
Does anyone know where I can find one?

I'm looking for something like this:

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / whoreish dress turned even worse on: March 22, 2007 11:18:34 PM
So, i make this dress out of navy blue stretchy fabric, and it turns out WAAAY too tight. Seriously. I looked like a prostitute.
so, i figured out how to fix it and make the skirt more flowy and nice, and i thought I had it!!! I was so close!!!
Then, i turn the thing rightside out, and it looks terrible around the middle. everywhere else seems fine- but the middle...ugh. Uneven pleats, weird puckers...blegh.
what should I do to fix it?
I was thinking a sash or something around the middle- but i don't know what color would go or how i would do that!
Any thoughts/help?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Purple Panda Bear Dress HELP! on: March 13, 2007 12:43:33 AM
Ok, so on sunday, I headed over to the red light in the U-District and bought myself a hideous purple polyester dress with panda bear sleeves thinking it'd be fun and easy to reconstruct. The problem is, after cutting the long sleeves and obnoxious collar off, i'm all out of ideas! I have a little bit of leftover fabric that matches the one on the dress, so i was thinking i could use that for something...any suggestions?

8  Washington / Washington: Peninsula / seattle! on: June 05, 2006 05:46:44 PM
where are some good places in seattle for crafts, retro clothing patterns, and fabric?
I know there's got to be a few that I'm not aware of.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / bloodstains. on: June 04, 2006 10:48:22 PM
so, i'm thinking about doing a project much like one I saw and was inspired by on here, but I forgot the link.
basically, it's going to be a white cotton 3/4 sleeved fitted workshirt with an anatomical heart where it's supposed to be.
I think it would look very cool with faux bloodstains (Not too into mutilating myself just for fashion's sake!), the only problem is, I need an easy/cheap way to do it and help with making it look very random.
Any ideas?
PS: I would also like to know places to get cheap shirts fitting the description above.
thanks!
