1  Patchwork Quilt, my first ever! (pic heavy) in Quilting: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: August 27, 2007 10:01:53 PM
I haven't posted on here in awhile, mainly due to the panic caused by college, but i finished this project two days before I have to leave so it worked out very well! I had always been envious of people able to make gorgeous quilts and one day one of my super awesome crafty friends made a patchwork quilt for herself. I decided that my next project had to be a quilt!

It's not very traditional, the squares don't really line up and there isn't really a "pattern" but I love it unconditionally. I used a BUNCH of different fabrics so it's shiny soft rough and velvety. I got stuck after I had finished the top, i wasn't sure what I had to do next, but I went to Joanns Fabrics and met two really really nice women who helped me figure out what i had to do (I honestly know NOTHING about ANYTHING regarding quilts...I just learned what batting was this morning).

ANYWAYS here are some pictures

please let me know what you think!

everyone's photos are amazing! they all look so professional, im impressed by all of them

i feel as though i have too many photos to choose just a few...but ill try and narrow it down

all but one of these is from my photo class at MICA, the infinite one was taken by my friend actually...i have a gajillion pictures of us playing with light, i love that photo so much though!

let me know what you think, i haven't really gotten any opinions aside from my teacher and family  Undecided

3  Re: 3 new shirts and pics: Lorax, Beatles...and a chandelier in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: October 09, 2006 05:33:15 PM
thank you everyone for your positive feedback! what a pleasure to see!

and of course i'd share the stencils (just know that they are REALLLLLLY awful to cut out and i never want to do that ever again)

(i would share the truffula trees but they were perhaps my proudest accomplishment in this whole ordeal ...plus they're taking awhile to load on photobucket...maybe i can post them later once photobucket gets back to working)

4  3 new stenciled shirts and pics: Lorax, Beatles...and a chandelier in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: October 04, 2006 01:54:28 PM
Helloooooo! It's been awhile since I've taken pictures of what I've done, so here's my 3 most recent shirts. (i created all the stencils on my own, im going go without stencilry for as long as i can, i've yet to use a stencil i didn't create myself)

This first one is a gift for a friend for beating me at Tetris awhile back...

this next one is just a chandelier on a sheer-ish shirt...I just though it was kind of pretty

in this picture you can see the shape of the chandelier better but this one below it shows the real color of the shirt/paint

and fiiiinally the LORAX! it was hard to take pictures while i was wearing it and i was too lazy to change into another shirt and take pictures of it on the ground or something so i hope you still get the full effect of it and everything is easy to see
i don't think anyone will ever understand how hard it was to cut out those damn truffula trees.
the lorax is from the book (i scanned it and photoshopped it for stenciling) the trees are really just one truffula tree that i copied and sized and flipped on photoshop, and the word "LORAX" is from the front cover of the book...the rest of the word/bubble weren't from the book

thank you for looking, please leave comments/criticisms!
and sorry if the pictures are a little much...evidently when i get excited i take a lot of pictures

5  Re: Blind melon bee girl stencil anyone? in Stenciling: Discussion and Questions by theluckiest1 on: August 22, 2006 10:55:36 AM
im always up for a challenge  Grin

i just made this so if its not up to your expectations or it just doesn't look right i won't be offended. it was hard to get good detail without it being really dark so this was the best i could do

hope it works out!

her head kind of looks...larger...sorry Undecided

6  Re: Wilco, Dr. Dog and Andrew Bird (IMG heavy) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: August 22, 2006 08:39:44 AM
haha wow i thought this was long gone, cool that you found it

what i like most about my shirts is that they're original, but id be willing to share the picture of andrew bird stencil. the cover art is pretty easy to find, i just traced around the whole thing, and the feet are pretty easy to find too.

http://www.thebirdmachine.com/gallery/gallery_2005_2.html# thats where i got the art

(sorry its sideways)

the lettering i used is just from the album, i blew it up but thats about it

7  What does Leslie Feist and an elephant have in common? in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: June 13, 2006 11:19:11 AM
2 new shirts, hurrah!

elephant! i couldn't find a good picture of an elephant spraying water so this was a picture of an elephant reaching for some leaves and i drew the water...i think i like its turnout

feist! any fans? yes? no? oh well... here it is

closeup (note the sparkly lettering...my first adventure with metallic paint, not too shabby?

PLEASE let me know what you think, comments, compliments, critiques, questions...

8  Wilco, Dr. Dog and Andrew Bird (IMG heavy) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: May 29, 2006 04:05:07 PM
iv made more shirts than these 3 but these 3 i actually like/have taken pictures of...so here we go

from the wilco song "hummingbird" (floating fast like a hummingbird)

wilco on the back

dr. dog shirt (and my foot...which is the true work of art here, obviously)

close up (agggh bleeding...noooo)

i didn't take a picture of this but we put 3 dots on the back shoulder...which mimick a design in their albums and shirts (for any dr. dog fans out there)

finally, andrew bird

andrew himself

the artist who did the drawing for the album A Mysterious Production of Eggs also did a bunch of posters for each of the songs of the album...this was the drawing for "Palindromes," i thought it was cute

and the back of the shirt is the little guy from the album (id add the closeup but i feel like iv put enough pictures up...except it IS rather exciting that this was my first multi-color/multi-layered stencil, hooray!)

tell me what you guys think! criticisms or compliments ill take it

9  Jeff Buckley shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by theluckiest1 on: May 05, 2006 10:09:11 AM
My brother's birthday is coming up and rather than buy him a shirt that costs an obscene amount of money, or give him an obscene amount of money to buy a shirt...i decided to make him a shirt

It took me awhile to decide on jeff buckley (lots of the bands he likes don't exactly have photoshoots and live pictures are usually crappy quality) but i think he'll really like it, im really anxious to give it to him and i have the good people on craftster to thank for helping me through this (this is my 2nd stencil, my first one, a beatles one, was kind of a "test subject" so we'll just ignore that it ever happened)

please comment and critique, i always feel stupid when i post threads and no one responds
