This is beautiful! I'm planning on making my dress and this was one of the patterns I've been eyeing, and I"m planning to use silk as well. Did you have any trouble using silk or tips to make it easier?

thanks so much sillychilly Smiley
dupioni silk (aka raw silk) is relatively easy to sew but a slinker more satin type silk would be much more difficult. i was very concerned about washing the silk first but decided against it because i would only wear the dress once anyway.
I did make quite a few alterations to the pattern namely... lining the entire dress, bringing up the neckline a bit, bringing up the back a bit (to cover my bra), adding a few inches of length and making the train longer. also i found that this pattern wasn't sized accurately according to the measurements I should be a 14 but an 8 worked best. Luckily I made a muslin version first and it was huge so I sized down a lot.
hope that helps! let me know if you have any other questions Smiley

I've never heard of "huck woven" what is it?
I'd love to try some stitching that only took 45 minutes, embroidery always takes me hours Sad

I am finished Grin Grin I have taken photos and all I have to do is address the envelopes and write notes. Hope my partners like them:)

Can't wait to see.  I hope they don't give as much trouble at the PO as they did me.   I didn't realize that sending outside the US had gotten so complicated.

They never bother me at the P.O. here. They say it's because I usually send parcels as a package - i.e in an envelope. I always offer to write what's in the package on the outside of it but I never have to fill out a customs form.

really?  I've sent both and they ALWAYS make me fill those things out.  they're such a pain!

saor is sending from ireland though Smiley
