1251  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The 2006 Wishlist Swap June Gallery on: June 26, 2006 08:33:16 AM

ahhhhhhh! i am so envious!! i always wanted the "traditional" sock monkey or the socks to make one...Riaro..did you happen to get the socks from the internet or a store?
[/quote]

I live about an hour from Rockford, IL where the sock monkey originated, so I got the sock monkey kit from a store. I've seen them online too, you can by the kit (which is just the socks and instructions) or the socks only (for about $5 less).  I have a copy of the instructions if you would like I can mail them to you or I can try and take a pic and post it.

do you have patterns for these? I especially like the dog with the little ears Smiley

your bracelet is really pretty, do you sell them on etsy?  Smiley
if so you might want to fix the second photo... I think it could be really pretty if you can get the bracelet in focus. if your camera doesn't have manual focus a trick is to center what you want focused in the viewfinder then push down HALF WAY on the shutter release button (the button you use to take a pic) just until it focuses on the bracelet then while still holding the button half way down recompose the pic and push the button all the way down to take pic.
Hope that helps.

p.s. this may cause the background to get lighter or darker than wanted, if so try taking at different times of day

your photos are nice but here is some friendly criticism to make them better...
some of your photos lack a subject to draw the viewers attention (like the cloud pic); for the ones with a main subject you should reconsider the composition - center placement is pretty boring. google the "rule of thirds" or check it out here http://www.betterphoto.com/exploring/tips/thirds.asp

 Shocked Be careful
when making lampshades you need to have a flame retardant liner, there are fabrics & sprays you can buy for this

i agree that the pic of the birds flying while one is still standing is good - its the best.

i don't really like the one with the window and the white wall. here is a little 'friendly' criticism: the contrast is too harsh (shadows too dark) leaving no real subject. the window appears to be the subject but you can't really see in it. if you want your photos to be better try and avoid subjects like windows and doors as they arent very challenging also try shooting in b&w and once you get the tones down youll see how much better your photos look.

your wildlife photos are great i like the seals too, great contrast in that one Smiley

it's a nice photo  Smiley
but I would crop out the shelves in the upper left corner, they are distracting
