I saw this in the sock monkey challenge, it is awesome though and cool to see again!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: book altering / altered art craftalong? on: June 28, 2006 01:07:05 PM
This looks like a really great idea. I love doing paper crafts and this is the first forum I have found with this medium. Although I am going to library school to be a librarian, and altering books may be frowned upon, I feel that this doesn't truly destory the book it just uses it in a different way Wink

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Let's Get Motivated to do crafts, craftalong? on: June 28, 2006 08:40:55 AM
I think I need to join this if I can. I really need motivated to start some new crafts and get used to my sewing machine, which I got months ago and still have issues with.

Top Three Crafts:
Tote Bag
clutch/change purse w/zipper
learn to quilt fabric

Other Crafts
Make t-shirt w/iron on transfer
modify dress into shirt/or bag (love the fabric not the dress)
Learn to make sock dog or other animal besides monkey
Need curtains for new place
Painting for new place
Padded Headboard

These are all the things I want to make over the summer but need help. I especially want to make a bag of some type that actually comes out right. Mine are always a little unfinished looking, any tips would be appreciated. I also have trouble with my sewing machine, thread breaking or needle breaking, any tips on sewing machine use also appreciated;)

Here is my second sock monkey ever. This one I made all by hand since the kitten design was embroidered on causing the threads to get stuck in the sewing machine.

I got into the sock monkey craze and found these super cute pink kitty socks to use. This is my second sock monkey ever and I had to make it all by hand since the kittens were embroidered, causing the threads to get caught up in my machine. I do love pink, and hope to make more stuff in this color, but it seems the month has gone by so fast. Hmmm, yellow?

I think yours looks great. I love how it has nice, long limbs and the colors of the stripes look awesome! I am going to try another sock monkey this weekend and see how it goes.

Here is my first sock monkey I posted the other day.

I am thinking of making another one this weekend, or soon. Or maybe a sock something else, like a puppy.

Can anyone give me tips on getting longer arms and also making a fuller mouth?

This is an awesome monster! I think I am going to try to make one this weekend. I am also on a color craftalong so maybe I will use this as my pink craft.
