1  sewing spree for 4yo in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by midnyte on: July 29, 2012 03:35:03 PM
So, after shirring and making one of my daughter's favorite dresses, I didn't touch my machines for probably a year and a half.  Well, last weekend I broke that long dry spell.

shirred skull dress (she has one in pink skulls too)

pillowcase top

made the armholes to short, so may end up just stiching them closed and turning it into a skirt instead

cheater sundress snoopy and woodstock (presmocked fabric)

jelly roll twirly dress.  extra twirly.

top and skirt with flounce (sorry so blurry, she wouldn't stop spinning)

top and circle skirt

I hope you like.  She's really excited about her new clothes.

Questions and comments welcome.

2  origami christmas in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by midnyte on: December 22, 2011 08:06:40 PM
So here's my tree this year.  (click thumbnails for full size photos)

It's an ornament tree I bought from IKEA with all origami ornaments.

Here's the detail of a couple of ornaments:

There are 48 ornaments hanging, plus one on the table, in addition to the topper, the small tree on the table, 3 boxes and the kusudama at the base.  For a grand total of 1004 pieces of paper.

I hope you like!

3  Blanket for my daughter in Crochet: Completed Projects by midnyte on: June 19, 2011 08:31:09 AM
So, I finally got around to replacing my daughter's blanket that went missing at grandma's house last Thanksgiving.  I keep hoping that one will turn back up.   Roll Eyes

I did not block this blanket, but she doesn't care and I kind of like the ruffly edge.

She calls this one her butterfly blanket because there's a little butterfly in one corner.

The proud owner

4  Re: Five minute apple blossom and sakura pattern in Crochet: Completed Projects by midnyte on: June 19, 2011 08:21:56 AM
These are so addictive.  I made about a half dozen during a meeting at work last week. (don't worry, I was calling in so they couldn't see what I was doing as they were droning on.  lol)  I've got about 2 dozen done.

And a six sided one made into a headband.

I've got another strand of abut 6 blue ones that I'm making into a belt, attaching as I go, but my "helper" ran off with that one.

8  Butterfly Shrinkies in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by midnyte on: November 24, 2009 08:15:44 PM

Just couldn't wait to show them off.  They turned out so well.

I'm thinking of making them earrings or a necklace charm.  haven't decided yet.
The craft punch is Martha Stewart Double Butterfly.
Cutting through the shrink plastic is really hard and i had to use a knife to get the butterfly out of the punch.  But it's so worth it.

9  flowers, flowers, everywhere in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by midnyte on: October 11, 2009 02:56:56 PM
Ok, so I've been lazy lately just sitting in front of the TV.  But I can't just sit there, so I've been folding.

You can see cherry blossoms, lilies, roses, a crane, a kusudma flower, a couple of dishes, and some small four petaled blossoms.

the roses - yes, there's a rose in a box

The crane and the blossoms, you can see one part of one of the dishes at the bottom.

10  bar shelf in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by midnyte on: August 01, 2009 06:45:16 PM
so, i've been keeping my shot glasses and such on a bookshelf.  not the most ideal situation, but i've been unable to find a shelf that i found suitable (at a reasonable price)  until i spotted these at my local goodwill.

there were 2 of them and the glass was intact.  they reall weren't too beat up, but the dark cherry color really didn't match my decor (which is mainly that black/brown from ikea)

so here's the before

i gave it a coat of black paint and pushed the glass to the back and voila

perfectly suited to my shot glasses.  (and those little mini bottles of liquor too!)

in the picture slots i put custom liquor labels that you can order free online.
They have my daughter's full name and date of birth on them.
Someone looked at me funny when i said i had ordered them, but i told her birth is a time to celebrate and i people frequently drink to celebrate so it made sense to me.  eventually i will buy all the bottles to match the labels, but i only have a couple for right now.  Smiley

hope  you like.
