1  Florida / Florida: Central / Re: Brevard County Art/ Craft Group on: July 29, 2007 07:04:18 AM
i'm not necessarily worried about having enough "art" just that those who would like to participate  have original designs and are interested in selling and promoting their work. I think a meeting at a library would be ideal or a coffee place etc. I would like to organize a alternative craft fair in Brevard/ Cocoa Beach. I think the time is now! Craft Underground Brevard is coming. Post or email me. info@barbaraanntubbs.com. If you have ideas for a venue, date, etc. All folks who contribute to the planning will be dully compensated with free space, advertising, etc. Let's get this together boys & girls.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / tattoo questions for a non-tatto artist on: July 29, 2007 06:57:47 AM
So I am a traditionally trained artist and a friend has asked me to design a tattoo for him. I know the basics of tattoo design (line work etc. and gradated color) but i was wondering if there are those out there that can give me advice for a really pimpin' tattoo design. The tattoo that he wants is an ocean landscape with waves and a hot surfer chick hangin' ten off of a longboard. It is a tribute to his hot surfer mama who passed away when he was young and I want to make sure that i do right by him to honor the tribute to his mother.

Anyone who has drawn a design to be inked?
3  Florida / Florida: North / Re: JACKSONVILLE CRAFT FAIR on: October 25, 2006 04:01:59 AM
I would totally be in. I live in Melbourne and I saw the one in Savannah but it was just too far for the weekend for me with my day job schedule. I know we can get some more things going in florida. if the one in jacksonville can be pulled together. i would be interested in organizing one down this way, melbourne or orlando after the holidays!
4  Florida / Florida: Central / Brevard County Art/ Craft Group on: September 17, 2006 09:13:46 PM
Hey Brevard area crafty peeps! I'm looking to start one or more groups in Brevard County that would help us network and get to know other crafty people in this area (I know you must be out there!!!!)

These are the type of groups i'm interested in starting:

1) I'm looking to start a discussion group/ salon/ dinner group with other fine artists who would like to discuss life as an artist, trying to make a living as an artist and provide each other with honest feedback on their work. Interested artists should be serious about creating authentic and meaningful work. Ideally, interested artists would have a modern approach to their creative process, with an emphasis on conceptual thought so there is a better chance of everyone jiving.

2) Secondly, i'm interested in starting a networking group/ crafting circle with other like-minded forward thinking crafters. Those interested would have a focus on not only making but also selling their crafts and preferably have a fine art/design slant to their work. By that i mean you don't necessarily have to be formally trained but that you're crafting from your own designs and artwork.

If you think you would be interested in any or all of these groups. please respond with a comment or two and maybe we can hook it all up! I'm hoping to find enough Brevard people to get something going on a monthly basis and make some new friends!
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: LOVE Altered book on: November 05, 2004 07:18:39 AM
jeweler's saws rock. they cut through anything that i have a need to in my craft studio that my utilitu knives or scissors won't cut! plus they are precise. i did a book in the shape of a clam shell and it turned out great.

don't mean to hijack the post. i've had good luck shaping my books into shapes by using a jeweler's saw with a heavy duty frame. i usually use thick bulldog clips to hold it all together so it doesn't move up and down while i'm sawing and just go at it. of course if you don't have any experience with jeweler's saws it might take a little lesson from the web or a book but it is easy to get the hang of and quite precise.

this might be a silly question, but what kind of sewing machine do you need to sew cardboard to fabric? an industrial one? did you use regular corrugated cardboard or bookbinder's board?

thanks!

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help! dark furniture, white walls... on: August 03, 2004 06:31:19 AM
did you put the sheets up flat like wallpaper? or did you make them billowy like curtains? this idea intrigues me since my walls are stark white also and i NEED some color and painting isn't an option. Smiley
