11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / journey necklace on: October 19, 2010 02:25:50 PM
Has anyone made a "journey" necklace (like diamonds/crystals/other stones) with maybe 3 graduated stones?  As I was thinking about this, it might be OK to use a headpin or wire and go with it.  This sounds way too easy.  thanks.
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / ear threads on: June 29, 2010 04:22:54 PM
Hello,  I'm wondering if there is a way to make ear threads.  I finally figured out how to use a piece of chain (it's a stiff type) and put it on an earwire.  They look something like the ear threads, but with an ear wire hook piece.  thanks.
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / anklet on: March 20, 2010 10:26:28 AM
hi,  I heard some ladies at hobby lobby a few weeks ago mention that it's about time for anklets!  What are some good sizes to sell?  I've made a few anklets and tried them on.  It seems that ankles can handle a bit more variation in size than wrists.  I like an anklet to be a little looser, in comparison to a bracelet.

My ankle is 8 inches and an anklet of about 8 1/2" to 9" seems to fit fine.  My anklet size will fit many wrists, so I think most anklets would go either way, depending on size.

I've used a lobster claw for a clasp.  I don't think a toggle clasp would be a good idea, though I'm not sure.   What do you think about stretchie cord for anklets?  It seems that it might work for some, but lots of folks get swollen ankles.  Also, how does it work to get a stretchie on an ankle?   I guess I will have to experiment.

14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / oh no - my studio is ... on: December 23, 2009 11:24:23 AM
my studio is in the guest room and company is coming.  I'm just taking a short break from cleaning and getting ready for my inlaws.  thanks.
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / magnetic clasp on: December 23, 2009 11:22:59 AM
hi,  Have you used magnetic clasps, esp with bracelets?  I have trouble keeping the magnets together.  One of my customers wants to exchange a magnet for a toggle.  For me, going to the bathroom may involve looking for my bracelet with a magnet.

I really like the look and idea of the magnet, but if it doesn't work, well, it's no good.  I bought several magnets when I used to think they would work.  I may try some different ones.

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / viking knit jewelry on: December 09, 2009 11:24:36 AM
hi  Has anyone worked with viking knit, like for a bracelet?  Apparently, this technique uses wire that has been coiled and pulled through a hole in a wood block:  drawplate.  I have also read something about knitting or some other wire manipulation.  thanks
17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / small, thin tube beads on: November 30, 2009 08:16:35 PM
I'm looking for a small, thin tube bead with a matte-like finish.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Santa's workshop - craft show on: November 21, 2009 07:16:18 PM
Hi,  I attended a local craft show, Santa's workshop, yesterday and today.  Jewelry was predominant craft.  It was all so beautiful.  The bead of choice seemed to be either magnetic hematite or Swarovski crystals.  The crystals were much more than the tiny ones I have used.  These were big, beautiful and full of sparkle.
19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / spun silver - Italian ribbon on: October 27, 2009 07:36:49 PM
hi,  Does anyone know anything about spun silver or Italian ribbon?  I just saw some jewelry made from these and wondered how they look in person?  thanks.
20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / book: Contemporary Copper Jewelry on: October 08, 2009 05:41:52 PM
Has anyone read the book:  Contemporary Copper Jewelry.  I saw it at Books a Million.  It looked like a good book, though it's been a while since I saw it.  It's on my wish list.  thanks
